GAME OF THE DAY

Timber Tennis

A tennis game that serves up a volley of weirdness.

Timber Tennis

Endless Tennis Arcade Game

View

Ever seen a clown throwing a bomb at a snowman on a desert island? Timber Tennis is like no sports game you’ve seen before.

This is an easy-to-play arcade game with a cheeky retro aesthetic. At first, you tap left or right to return the ball. But soon you’ll be timing taps to aim super-shots, dodging multiple balls and picking up coins. Gameplay is endless, as long as you don’t mess up a shot.

Timberclaus? Wrestler? Take your pick in Timber Tennis.

The courts are pleasingly random, ranging from playgrounds to funky disco scenes, and there are over 40 characters for you to unlock and level up. Our favourite? The sword-wielding kendo master, of course.

Timber Tennis has a wicked sense of humour, too: lose, and you leave a gravestone on the court. And the candy-coloured pixel art is complemented by a bouncy 8-bit soundtrack by Stalek, the composer who worked on the original Timberman.

Besides the ongoing competition against the computer, other challengers await online. Or – and this is a stroke of genius – why not play against a friend on the same device? Just grasp opposite ends of your iPhone or iPad and get serving.

Timber Tennis is an absolute smash, no matter how you play.
