Hot this week: King of Crabs

It’s the question everyone’s asking: what’s the best crustacean-based game on the App Store?

We hereby crown King of Crabs the winner. This battle royale-like clawfest arrived in a salty wave of glory back in March, and has been charming our shells off ever since.

As an aspiring boss of the beach, you scuttle around a huge open world seafront, whacking other crabs to grow bigger and bigger. Unfortunately, the beach is packed with other players from all around the world trying to do the same thing.

Try and take on a big brute twice your size and you’ll be in trouble – so you’ll find yourself picking fights with smaller crabs and ones around your size.

The more you play, the more you can upgrade and even tool up your crab. Ever seen a lobster tearing it up with a baseball bat? We have, and it is quite the spectacle.

With the latest update, there are more ways to cause carnage. The new Buddy Mode allows you to team up with any other player, and the new Spectate Mode allows you to sit back and watch the pros get stuck in. You might learn a trick or two from them. 

Plus, there’s a plethora of new customisation options and locations to discover, including shipwrecks, temples and caves.

So if you’ve not experienced the joys of raging around a beach as a crab with a ruddy great axe, now’s the time.
