Love RSS feeds? So do we!!

RSS feeds are a great way to follow updates on your favorite website. However, some sites set up their feeds to only show a portion of each entry, you know, to get you to click through to their actual website. We find that really annoying, and we're sure you do too.

Which is why, unlike other RSS feed readers, that either push you into a browser (in-app or otherwise), or depend on third party text parsing services and require you to be online to fetch the full text of one article at a time (which makes it no different from having to click/tap through to a website), in lire, you get your favorite RSS feeds as they should've been. You don't need to click through to any website (though, you do still have the option to, if you really wanted). It takes your favorite partial feeds, does it's magic, and converts them in to full feeds, so you don't have to click/tap on those annoying 'Read more' or 'Continue reading' links.

Once they're cached, you don't even need to be connected to read your full-text feeds.

Use as a standalone feed reader,

or,

sync with any of the several services: Feedly, Feedbin, FeedHQ, The Old Reader, Inoreader, BazQux Reader, Newsblur, Feed Wrangler, FreshRSS, Miniflux, Nextcloud News, Tiny Tiny RSS.

Novidades

Versão 3.1.6

Version 3.1.6

IMPROVED:
- Support of RSS Enclosures. Audio Enclosures should now show up as playable audio within articles.
- Undated Simplified Chinese Localization.

FIXED:
- A bug that caused HTML entities to appear in article list when using iCould Sync mode. (NOTE: This fix will only be applied to newly fetched articles.)
- Other minor bug fixes.

Previously in Version 3.0.0

ADDED:
- Newsletter Mode (re-written from ground up): Some sync services (like Feedbin), and some 3rd Party services (like kill-the-newsletter.com) allow you to read Newsletters in your RSS reader. In Newsletter mode, articles are rendered as is, without applying lire's internal styling, this is especially useful for reading newsletters (most of which include their styling inline). Feeds that are known to be Newsletters are automatically set to open their articles in Newsletter mode. You can also set specific feed to open their articles in Newsletter Mode in Settings > Article > Reading > Open in.
Newsletter Mode has been tested to work with :-
-- kill-the-newsletter.com (Full support in Standalone mode, with iCloud sync, Feedbin & Feedly) (Partial support with BazQux, Inoreader & The Old Reader)
-- Newsblur (Full support)
-- Feedbin (Full support except sender's email address)
-- Inoreader [Pro] (Supported, but does not include some inline styling & sender's email address)
-- Feedly [Pro+] (Supported, but does not include some inline styling & sender's email address)

- Open articles in Inline Webpage: Some sites prevent scraping of their content by lire's full-text parser because of various reasons, while some other sites put their content behind paywalls, or login-walls. Inline Webpage provides a more reasonable way to read the content of these websites than was previously possible with In-app browser/Safari-View-Controller, or the Safari app, or some 3rd party web browser. You can set specific feed to open their articles in Inline Webpage in Settings > Article > Reading > Open in.

- Open articles in Default Browser: Open articles directly in Safari (or any other app that you set as your system default browser). You can set specific feed to open their articles in Default Browser in Settings > Article > Reading > Open in.

- Full-text Search (Experimental): Allows the in-app search engine to look in every article's body and full-text (if cached). Set it up in Settings > General > Search > Full-text Search.
- Ability to disable Spotlight indexing/search. Set it up in Settings > General > Search > Spotlight.
- "3 Days" option in all app-wide "Mark older as read" menus.

- Widgets on Desktop on macOS Sonoma.

IMPROVED:
- Hot Links now open in the new Inline Webpage view.
- Support for rendering of embedded 'X' (formally Twitter) & Instagram content.
- The way the app reports & displays errors related to Inoreader's Rate Limits.

FIXED:
- A bug that caused an intermittent crash while opening some articles.
- Tons of minor (and major) bug fixes.

Improvement ideas

Good afternoon, I'm a Lire user for both Mac and IpHone.

The lire was one of the first applications I acquired when I bought my Mac, due to the excellent experience I got from the version that only ran on IpHones with IOS 9, even in the current versions.

I'm blind, so I use VoiceOver on Apple products

I believe that for running the Catalyst project, I still need some improvements, so here are my suggestions:

When reading articles, VO keeps telling me (clickable) at the end of a line, or paragraph, when I'm doing continuous reading. This makes the reading take longer.

When I read an article, either in the same window or having it opened in another window, when I go back to the list of articles, the recently read article still appears there, even if the filters option is checked to only show the articles not read, I would like it to disappear from my face, as it happens in Lire para IpHone.

I would like a key that could make the article as read, even if I do not enter it because I am not interested.

To read the article in the same window, I would like you to be able to enter it just by interacting, as is done in a table, for example, as it is, it is difficult to know where the text is for reading, or you could enable H, to navigate through the headings, eg to go to the list of articles again, B to go talking the buttons on the screen ..

With H for Headers, X for lists and B for buttons, it would make it easier to get to places.

Now as it is, we have to navigate the entire screen, to reach the folder we click to open, or the list of articles, which makes it not efficient.

You could have the option to open directly in another window. When clicking, (there in the settings), without having to go through the menu, he played directly to the text of the article, having to necessarily ESC to return the list of unread, for example.

In continuous reading, if I need to stop reading, or skip the author's part, images, etc., if I give the command again for him to do continuous reading, the article returns to be read from the beginning. On IpHone, if I touch the screen, it stops and when I give the command to read again, the article continues to be read from where I left off.

It would also be interesting to have a manual with shortcut keys, if they exist and also, detailing the part of the settings.

This option does this and that, if used, the program will behave X.

I think this manual is something very useful, since the program doesn't have it in Portuguese for example, so it would help a lot even if it is used in English.

Grateful for the attention
