Description
Vinegar is a Safari extension that replaces the YouTube player with a minimal HTML video tag.
It removes ads, restores picture-in-picture, and keeps videos playing in the background.
Note: The "can read information from webpages" text in the permission section is just unfortunate wording. Vinegar needs access to the web page to find the YouTube player and replace it. It's not doing anything creepy!
(By the way, check out Vinegar's companion app, Baking Soda. It's basically a less powerful version of Vinegar, but it works on all websites other than YouTube.)

Must-have extension!
Having a wonderful experience so far. This is simply a must-have for me, especially on iOS. Only wished the video player's top padding could be fixed. For some reason, the video frame moves up a bit when the extension is activated in desktop Safari.
Not so good
Makes Youtube player clean, but, subtitles is too big and this extension not allow to see the thumbnail preview when navigate through timeline bar

Unfortunately, the system video player in Safari is not customizable, so we are unable to adjust the size of the subtitles or enable thumbnail previews.
Great extension, but lacking iOS 16 support
The extension is great, I've used it for a while but PiP and background audio aren't working on iOS 16 anymore. :(
I'm waiting for a new update that addresses these issues.

Can you go to Settings → Safari → Extensions → Vinegar and double check whether:
1. The extension is still turned on?
2. The permission settings are set to "Allow" for all 4 websites?
