Outrageously bad

The app immediately prompts you to subscribe to the anual plan that costs a 100 dollars a year, without even offering the weekly subscription (which is 5x more expensive by the way) or letting you try the free features.

When you figure out how to close the popup you will realise why: there are no free features, this is not a free app with in-app purchases, it only works if you subscribe. The voices just keep saying you should subscribe instead of reading the prompt. The annoying subscribe popup is very persistent and shows the premium features, but not the free ones, because there are none, I’m pretty sure that is a breach of the App Store’s guidelines by the way.

As if one popup that appears every minute wasn’t enough, the app asked me to leave a review three times, even though I only spent a few minutes trying to figure out if there was anything I could do without paying. Since they insisted so much, here is my review.

To top it off, the design feels pretty cheap. I wasn’t expecting a native IOS app with an award-winning design, but this looks like they asked an intern to do it and he just asked chatGPT to do it for them. Maybe I’m being a bit harsh, but I tend to have higher standards with expensive subscriptions.

The voices seem alright from the demo at least, some are really good, like Morgan Freeman, but others are quite off, like Donald Trump. I didn’t really get to try test them though, because they all just keep saying I should pay up instead of reading what I typed.

To sum it up, the app is just an ugly billboard for their overpriced text to voice service. Cheap, greedy and pushy. It feels like a shady website with adblock disabled, not like an IOS app.
