Description

Pilot warplanes during WW1 and become a hero of the skies!

Be a pioneer of aerial warfare in Warplanes: WW1 Sky Aces. Fight above the battlefields of World War I and become the ultimate Sky Ace!
The game will take you into the times when aviation was in its dawning of existence – the first Wright brothers machines went into the sky just 11 years before the Great War! Engineers were quickly adapting this brand new invention into military purposes while creating fascinating and sometimes oddly looking planes.
In Warplanes: WW1 Sky Aces you take control of over 30 historical airplanes – including the Fokker Dr.I, famous for its pilot Manfred von Richthofen a.k.a. “Red Baron”. Others stemming from light fighters like the Airco DH.2 to an enormous 4-engine bomber like the Sikorsky Ilya Muromets – all planes can be customized and upgraded.
Choose between two modes suited for different playstyles and skillsets. In Pilot Mode you can simply focus on air combat, collecting and upgrading planes. Squadron Leader Mode adds an extra layer to the gameplay – apart from combat, you also need to manage resources, hire and train pilots and expand your base.
Two campaigns for Triple Entente and one for Central Powers will let you experience all major fronts of World War I – you’ll fly above most countries that participated in the conflict in various types of mission. Pilot fighters and bombers. Protect or destroy ground targets. Face mighty zeppelins and anti aircraft artillery to change the tides of war.

Good but could be better

I really like the games and spent hours playing them, but there are some things I would like to see in them. Here are my suggestions:

Players should be able to play in the first person, inside the cockpit. The information on the UI (Speed, altitude, weapon cooldown, engine boost cooldown, damage indicator) would be displayed on instruments. I know the planes back then did not have such advanced instruments but it would be amazing.
Why does WW1: Sky Aces show the speed and altitude on the UI, but WW2: Dogfight doesn't? Both should have the speed and altitude on display.
There should be a throttle slider, players should be able to control the throttle of their planes.
There shouldn't be a limit to how much you can tilt the plane. It is currently impossible to perform many real-world maneuvers such as the aileron roll or the barrel roll.
The damage on the plane should be part specific, if a part of the plane takes too much damage it would break (Then you lose the mission). This would make the game slightly more strategy-based as players would position themselves differently, depending on where their planes received heavy damage.

It seems the NPCs are really bad compared to the player, how can my squadron of 8 defeat a squadron of 38?
The NPCs' planes don't crash when they touch the ground in my game. I saw planes go inside the ground then come back up.

This game should have multiplayer. You could complete missions with other people, or fight them. The players would pick only one of their planes to use in multiplayer.
To balance PvP, players could only battle against people who have the same amount of upgrades.
I’m not sure how you could make the battles balanced between a F2P and Pay2Win players. It would be very frustrating to be shot down by a Pay2Win player.

I am aware that making some of these changes could require a different physics engine, but the game would be so much better. Maybe these games weren't made to be realistic, but I would prefer it if they were.

i know it’s probably never going to update again but i have some suggestions

no mans land terrain with trench marks and dead trees, cinematic camera in community missions for both games if you want to watch the battle instead of fighting it (the mission will not be completed if your allies win in this mode) during night missions the enemy ground forcers could deploy flares too (same for allies) and add terrains with big cities on it (could help alot people recreate the stalingrad battle in warplanes ww2 and more)
