DEEP DIVE
Conquer combat in The Elder Scrolls: Blades
The Elder Scrolls: Blades
Quest. Create. Conquer.
You’ve scoured dozens of dungeons and discovered countless treasures. But The Elder Scrolls: Blades holds more than just shiny baubles and powerful weapons. Read on to discover some tips for mastering this gorgeous role-playing game.
Troll trouble
‣ During your journey through Tamriel, you’ll undoubtedly come face-to-face with a troll or two. One of the game’s most reliably challenging enemies, trolls can be hard to kill because of their speedy regeneration.
So pick your poison. While a fire-enchanted weapon is effective against trolls, it’s even more effective when combined with an Aversion to Fire poison. Better still, inflict a Healing poison to slow a troll’s regeneration.
Handy damage
‣ Defence is crucial in Blades. It’s smart to carry a shield, especially if you favour one-handed weapons like longswords, war axes and maces.
But did you know you can wield a one-handed weapon with two hands? Simply unequip your shield and you’ll grasp your sword like a baseball bat, adding significant extra damage to each attack.
Fun with stun
‣ Did a well-timed enemy block leave you stunned? Don’t despair. You aren’t totally paralysed. Even while stunned, you can trigger Dodging Strike abilities. Shake it off and get back in there!
Get back some magic
‣ There’s nothing worse than casting a massive fireball only to get hit and lose both the spell and a bunch of Magicka. Fear not, wizard, there’s a workaround! The Willpower perk not only gives you Magicka back when an enemy interrupts a spell, it even works if you interrupt your own spell to stop casting.
Need to switch from a spell to a block? Don’t stress, just swap!
