Figuring out the most pressing task at any given moment can be challenging. That’s why Things 3 offers so many ways to sort your to-dos. The Today view automatically pulls together tasks from across all the lists you’ve created, showing just the items you’ve flagged as due today.
The Upcoming list organises your scheduled to-dos, repeating tasks, deadlines and calendar events into a daily agenda. Simply drag and drop tasks to another date to reorder.
Use the Anytime view to review the top tasks on all of your lists, or the Someday folder for tasks that you might want to accomplish in the future.
There’s a big difference between a hard deadline (filing your taxes on time) and a nice-to-have deadline (finishing your taxes on the Friday before they’re due). Things 3 lets you differentiate between the two by giving you the option of setting due dates with or without a reminder.
When the due date comes, your task automatically shows up on your Today list. You can also mark any to-do to be finished “Today,” or even “This Evening.”
Sometimes a task takes several steps to complete. In those situations, use a checklist within a to-do to break it into smaller, more manageable actions.
For example, if your task is “Repair dishwasher,” you might embed a checklist with steps like “Get repair company’s phone number from Gary” and “Find dishwasher model and serial number.”
