Description

To guide you in finding skilled barbers and stylists, catering to Black kinky and curly hair, within your own city!

Have you ever struggled to find a hairstylist who specializes in your hair type? Chances are, if you’re a Black person living in Canada, you have. That’s exactly what happened to us. After years of struggling to find skilled stylists and barbers, sifting through facebook posts, desperately asking friends if they knew anyone who did hair, an idea was born. What if we could create a one stop shop for all things hair? Specifically our afro, kinky, coily, and curly hair?

One October night, we decided to combine our very different skill sets in order to work toward creating the ultimate solution, Afroguide. With a background in software engineering, and law, you may be thinking this was an unlikely match for such a service, but it worked, and along the way we managed to find our passion, Black haircare.

Afroguide was created as the ultimate solution to not only our haircare problems, but to the haircare problems of every Black person living in Canada. Our vision is to start out with a directory of Black hairstylists within Canada, and only continue expanding from there.

We have another purpose, not only are we connecting you, the customer, with your next stylist, we are also here to connect hairstylists with their customers. Registration to become a participating Afroguide stylist is always ongoing. Upon registration, you are added to our network of stylists based off of region and styles you are proficient in doing. Clients will be able to perform searches based off their specific haircare needs and will be directed towards your business.
