Hi

I like this app and keep up the good work

Refuses to run without unneeded permissions

I granted all permissions requested, except to write data to Health (I don’t need an unknown app writing garbage) and the app refuses to run. Shame, seemed like it had potential as a reporting tool.

Developer Response ,

All the Rings needs to ask for write permissions due to the way Apple has structured the permission system. The app can only ask for a permission once. And since the app can track workouts, it needs to be able to write the results of those workouts to the system's health database.

If I was to ask just for read permissions, I could never then ask for write permissions later when you try to track a workout. Hence, I have to ask for write permissions up front.

Does that make sense? If you only grant read permissions, the phone app should still work and show you all of your information. The watch app however won't let you do anything, since it would be really frustrating if you started a workout, only to find out later that the workout was lost because the app didn't have permission to save the data.

Note, that if you don't track a workout with All the Rings, nothing will be written to your health database.
