HEALTH DATA

Collection of Health data such as calories burned and heart rate requires an Apple Watch or other Apple Health connected device.

BATTERY USE

Arc is only awake and using GPS when you are active and moving. For the rest of the day Arc stays in a low power sleep mode, with GPS turned off, to conserve battery.

On a typical day of two to three hours of travel a single full battery charge should last from morning to evening without requiring extra recharging during the day. However longer trips (for example a long hike or cross country drive) may consume more than expected battery, due to Arc needing to be awake and recording, with GPS activated, for the duration of the trip.

For longer trips, I recommend plugging your phone into a car charger or battery pack, to avoid unpleasant battery surprises.

Meter as unit

is it possible to add the meter or km as a unit of measure

Developer Response ,

Hi! Arc uses your phone's built in distance display system, which is based on your phone's region setting. Check in your phone's Settings -> General -> Language & Region, to make sure it is set to the correct country. Thanks 😄

Excellent

I have been using this since move.app folded. It has been great to see it improve overtime. I have used this on travels around the world and it is amazing to have everything logged and stored/places auto populated and where they are not, now having the the “find in google” feature finds it.
Thanks for producing this and updating it, worth the subscription to know the creator is being rewarded.

new pricing and developers pseudo abusive response

Random pricing update makes a donation based app 8$ a month, which is wild for a passive app. Note: there is zero functionality without paying 8$, 40$ or 200$. The transit app for comparison which is a genuinely useful app is about 1$ a month.

One of the reviews mentions this and the developer response was encouraging the user to commit suicide…

App was broken for me for like 3 months, went back and saw all this and will unfortunately not be supporting moving forward. Responding to a complaint with: “Am I your daddy? I'm supposed to pay for your lunch, and your school backpack too?Everything should be free for you, because you're a very good little boy? Go jump.” is a WILD way to handle criticism.

Good app outside of this if you are 100$ a year interested in remembering your day.

P.S. I totally understand monetizing it’s necessary for any operation. That’s not the issue. the pricing scheme seems a little far fetched imo. Fantastical uses a similar one, except it’s again a genuinely useful app that you actively use every day to plan and organize your life. And most of all, again, the developer response to people’s criticisms of the change is out of this world…

Developer Response ,

The response you quote isn't "handling criticism", it's responding in kind to ungrateful nastiness from people who I have been providing a free gift to for years.

Everything is paid for by someone, and in this case free users of the app were having that use paid for by me every month. That is no longer viable, due to new excessive expenses, so the free gift ends. If someone is going to respond with nastiness to me no longer being able to pay bills for them, I'm going to tell them to get lost, as I rightly should.

And seeing as you have issue with that, it's time to you to get lost too. Delete my app, move on, and don't come back. Your money is not welcome.
