MEMBERSHIP DETAILS
Ate Food Diary is a subscription app with a 7-day FREE trial for new subscribers. The subscription gives you full, unlimited access to the app- no hidden fees, gated features, or ads. It enables Ate to continuously provide new features and updates while maintaining a private and secure environment for you to journal in.
Subscriptions created in the app are processed and managed by Apple. Your credit card will be charged through your Apple App Store account when you confirm your purchase. Subscription renews automatically at the same price unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the subscription term. You can manage subscriptions in Account Settings in the Apple App Store after purchase. Refunds will not be provided for any unused portion of the subscription term.

Atemate AI Update: Edit results, Search based on Tags, See AI Insights
Edit AI Results: You can now edit the AI generated description, ingredients list, and tags.
Basic AI Tag search: Search across your journal based on tags generated by AteMate AI. Find burgers or salads you ate. This is our first step towards introducing full search capabilities. Would love to get your feedback on how you would want to use this.
AI Insights: "Eat the rainbow" analysis - How colorful are your meals across the month? Or look at the Macronutrient distribution across your meals. Tap on either to see how meals were categorized.
We also fixed some bugs, inconsiderate white screens, and other iOS 18 related issues.

How it works
AteMate analyzes your food entries based on what it can see in the photo. Sometimes it might not be spot on because it can only recognize visible ingredients. For instance, it can’t detect the quality of ingredients or hidden items like protein powder in yogurt (something I frequently use). And, of course, it can’t analyze what it can’t see—like the hidden layers in a Chicago-style deep-dish pizza.

We are using an enterprise grade AI provider. This means your data is always encrypted, not used to train AI models, and not shared with unauthorized individuals.
Opt-in to Use AteMate
We believe AteMate is a fantastic addition to the app, and we’ve ensured your privacy is protected. However, we understand it might not be for everyone. That’s why it’s an opt-in feature. You can continue using the app just as before, even if you choose not to enable AteMate. Plus, you can disable it anytime if you decide it’s not for you.
Ate is still focused on simple food journaling, but it's no longer just about food. It's a holistic tool that integrates exercise, water, and sleep tracking, offering a complete picture of your health journey. It's all about balance and finding what works for YOU. Misleading – no free version, just free trial
The description leads you to believe that this is a free app with in-app purchases or a subscription option. IT IS NOT. It is subscription-only, with a 7-day free trial. I’m sure the app is fine, but I feel misled and I won’t pay for this.

Cost of subscription = ???
It seems like they'd like me to sign up with payment info, before clearly showing what the cost of a subscription would be. TOS doesn't show cost (likely varies by region), but I shouldn't have to look this hard for it. So it's a no.

Thanks for the feedback. Subscriptions are showing on the subscription page before you subscribe through the App Store. They are also visible during the standard Apple Subscription process. Regarding your payment information, it’s completely hidden from us as we don’t have visibility into your App Store account. All apps in the App Store work this way. Not sure where you would want us to make things clearer?
