Essential companion to the Trail Guide
The 50th edition of the Trail Guide is both an amazing stand-alone resource and a tribute to the work of the BTC. This App however is the real-time live update and resource for the Guidebook to reflect trail closures, re-routes and to help identify your location when you are staring at a blaze yet unsure of where you are.
It is simple and elegant enough to serve it’s very functional purpose.
Would love to eventually see all the natural history and other resources of the guidebook come to life in the app.
Can not comment on the ‘track’ feature, as I use STRAVA to log all BT activity and rely on the app primarily for planning, route finding, logistics (parking, fees, GPS Co-ordinates) and for real-time Trail updates.
Thanks BTC for being forward thinking, progressive and ‘PRESERVING A RIBBON OF WILDERNESS FOR EVERYONE, FOREVER’ and going the step further through the app of making it ‘FINDABLE’.....
I downloaded the app to my phone and when I purchased a new phone, I had to pay for the app again?
Hoping for more
The app is not particularly user friendly and I was disappointed that the app offers no additional information of the sections of the trail. Nothing about the terrain (flat, hills etc) or hike suggestions. You are not offered much more than what you can find for free if you Google.
