Carbon Diet Coach is a science-based nutrition app designed by renowned nutrition coaches Dr. Layne Norton (Ph.D. Nutritional Sciences) and Registered Dietitian Keith Kraker (BS Dietetics).

It does everything a normal nutrition coach would but at a fraction of the cost. Simply select your goal, answer a few short questions, and it does the rest! You will get a customized nutrition plan based on YOUR goals and metabolism.

What's more, Carbon will adjust the plan as you progress to optimize your results. Easy to use

It’s hard to describe how much this app has helped me. If you are a disciplined person this app will help you reach your goals. It has helped me grasp calories and energy balance. It has given me confidence in my eating habits and to get consistency and get away from yo-yo style of eating I’ve done in the past. The coach is adaptable, entering your food is super easy, adding your own recipes makes it super easy! I recommend this app to all my friends!

Going back to myfitnesspal

I had high hopes for this. I think the interface is clean and it is easy to use. Ultimately myfitnesspal’s free edition is better IMO than this app which makes the monthly fee feel really steep. My major gripes:
-recipe entry - one by one ingredient adding is inconvenient with no batch add option
-food catalogue isn’t as extensive as MFP
-no iPad version which would help with some of the data entry
-macro / calorie suggestions via the “coach” - nothing groundbreaking here that you couldn’t find online yourself or with MFP

Many better apps out there

User interface is not as clear. Can’t save meals, so you have to manually add everything (add yesterdays breakfast). Can’t enter specific number of grams, but rather have to add that 1 serving is 65 grams, so if you have 100 grams you have to do the math to find what fraction of a serving it is. The macro budget that the app creates doesn’t actually match the calories, so if you follow the macros, you’re over on calories! The list of foods isn’t as comprehensive as other apps either. Lot of hype, and not as good as even the free versions of some others.

Thank you for using our app and for your feedback! The Carbon Diet Coach app database has thousands of verified, non-crowd-sourced food items within the barcode and search functions. User can save and copy meals, create food items and custom recipes, as well as use our Quick Add feature that seamlessly adds macros to your diary as needed! Additionally, we have a Macro Calories option that calculates your total calories in the fashion you describe.

While Carbon Diet Coach does offer an excellent tracker, we are much more than that! Carbon Diet Coach uses the latest in nutrition science combined with the tenets of flexible dieting to help users get the best results possible. It does everything a coach would - a plan based on YOUR goals/metabolism, plus weekly adjustments to optimize results - all while including foods users love. To our knowledge, there are no free apps that offers weekly target goal changes based on your adherence.
