Shimano on the e-Tube site says “Customizable settings off the bike”, but that is only true when you are by the bike and actively connected. The rest of the time the app is really of no use.

When you register your bike or components, all the information about them should be available even when not actively connected to them. Serial numbers, firmware versions, model numbers, and any other information would be helpful off the bike.

On the side of customization, how about allowing users to work through the settings they would like to change on the bike while they are disconnected. Then when they connect to the bike they can apply the changes as one upload. To this end, how about profiles that could be saved with different settings and then uploaded before you start your ride. Perhaps on some rides you want different settings for shifting than on other rides.

I do give it 3 stars because it does provide connectivity and allow some of the maintenance to be done on my own.

Great app but it’s in the wrong category. It should be in Health and fitness, not in entertainment

The app takes a very long time to load and connect to the bike. Also appears to require internet access for the app to function which a big miss as if wanting to make a change out on the trail will not be possible without internet access which many trails are out of cellular range. Once connected the app’s functionality is decent.
