Not user friendly
Where to start? Just got our bike and have been playing with this app for four hours. Here are my first impressions:
1. Cant use Apple Watch as a heart rate monitor without using a third party Bluetooth broadcaster and three separate devices (Apple Watch, the paired iPhone, and a third device to run the echelon app). Can’t use the paired iPhone to run echelon app and get heart rate information from watch.
2. Can’t listen to Spotify or other while in free mode.
3. Can’t watch Netflix or other while in free mode.
4. App freezes regularly
5. Progress summary not showing or slow to show workouts and has to be manually synced to Apple health.
6. Getting signed in was extremely frustrating and app can’t be used without signing up for a subscription.
The bike need this app to get tension, speed, etc. However, it does not communicate with some of the most common entertainment and health apps making you use multiple devices or third party apps. Slow and buggy. Should be MUCH better considering the cost of subscription!

Beware. Freestyle mode...
I bought the bike to use it solely in freestyle mode. It used to be a nice black UI with metrics. Now they changed it with rotating ads of their subscriptions. Absolutely brutal. I bought your bike. I don’t need to subscribe. At least keep freestyle riding “normal”. It’s the right thing to do.
Great concept but very buggy and frustrating to use
I just got my echelon bike about a month ago and have been using the free trial of the app since. I wanted to love it so badly, but there have recently been a ton of issues that make it very frustrating to continue to use.
100% of the classes that I’ve taken since getting the bike and before they rolled the app back are missing from my history. I’m probably at 25 classes now but I only have a badge for 10. I can’t look up any of my old classes or sync them to my Apple Health. In addition, you have to manually sync the classes to Apple health after each class instead of doing it manually.
If I were paying for this app I’d probably have jumped to Peleton by now. If things don’t improve soon I probably will. A big part of getting on this spin fitness journey is being able to track your progress and look back at what you’ve achieved. When the basic functionality of an app prevents you from being able to do that it’s pretty demotivating and just makes it not worth the effort.
