Get the free Emby Media Server from the Emby website (required as part of your Emby install).

The app is free to browse your media collection, and free to cast media to other devices. Playback requires a small one-time in-app purchase, or an active Emby Premiere subscription, also available in-app.
Emby Premiere is available in-app as a monthly subscription for $6.99 USD per month. Payment will be charged to your iTunes Account upon confirmation of purchase. The subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period, and the renewal cost is $6.99 USD. Subscriptions may be managed and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to your Account Settings after purchase. No cancellation of the current subscription is allowed during the active subscription period.

Couldn’t get it to work.
Did every thing I was supposed to do. I even paid the $7.00 for the IOS app because with out it the app is just a pretty logo on my iPad. No matter what I did I could not get anything to play on iPad (2018 Pro) just an endless colour changing circle. I got it playing on my Samsung TV (2019 model) and my iPhone (XR).
No matter what I did, it still wouldn’t work. I also tried the browser on my iPad. It would look like it is starting the movie then it would freeze at the 2 second mark. I tried the Emby community site but found it was not easy to navigate it was all just to much for a noob. After 3 days of trying, I have thrown in the towel and gave up. What a waste of money.
Something else I noticed is the premium membership is $4.99 on their site while in the IOS app it is $9.99. Apple takes a 30% then a 15% why is the membership marked up 100%.
I am going back to Plex.
Functional and feature packed app to access Emby server
This app just keeps getting better! Just a few weeks ago the ability to download media on the device for offline viewing was added. You can pretty much watch any video file with little need for transcoding. Other features like Live TV also work perfectly, even on an older iPad 4!
Great app, lots of features, good support from developers! Would definitely recommend using Emby as your media library organization solution!
Pay to use, this is not Plex
As is clear from other reviews, Emby is pay to use and $10/month at that. Despite “free” server software, I discovered that you can’t access media on your local network without paying. Lame, lame, lame. Avoid.
