Description

Many Mac apps show what’s currently playing in your Music — often by rendering semi-transparent widgets over what you do. Those widgets distract you from work and never answer the question “What’s playing?” the moment you have it.

Emcee humbly shows the song in the menu bar.

The song name does not scroll, it stands still.

Nice app, could use some small improvements

It seems a bit glitchy, it takes a short time to come on. When music is playing, it would be nice to not show the ▶️ icon.

Further customisation would be nice, such as:
being able to swap the order of Artist and Current song. Also a small thing, but being able to change the ":" character to a space, or —, or | or • etc.

Otherwise, great for having the current song in the menubar.

Abandoned, I think

Loved this app until Ventura, but it no longer displays song titles. I emailed the developer via the Support link here in the App Store, and the email bounced.

Love the simplicity.

Definitely does what it says on the tin. I'll be honest - it would be very nice to have a little album cover art thumbnail next to the track title instead of a Play/Pause icon. That's the one thing I miss from a competing app I used to use that was taken off the App Store. But overall great job! 👍

Fun hint: if you hold the Option key on the keyboard, a little song position marker shows up on top of the song name, and while still holding Option, you can click to change the position in the song while it's playing.
