Good utility but is updated way too frequently

This is a useful and generally stable safari extension but why does Evernote want to update it seemingly every other day? This is by far the most frequently updated app or extension I have ever seen. No new features are being added so why can't you wait for a month to roll up the bug fixes? Updating the extension requires restarting Safari - who does that? I don't even need to reboot for OS updates more than once a month. It's like going back to the bad old days. Get your QA act in order Evernote people!

so far so good

Seems to duplicate the functionality of the pre-Safari 13 clipper... thank goodness, because that was really NOT clear from the description. Based on the description, I was afraid that this was solely about capturing "screen shots" and not text, but... no, it still captures text, just like before, so I'm fine.

Dear Evernote: consider updating your description so that it's clear that this new web clipper has essentially the same functionality as before. I really couldn't tell until I tried it.

Installing an app just so I can have a Safari extension is really annoying. I understand this is not Evernote's fault. This is Apple's doing. But still, annoying is annoying, and I can't give it 5 stars.

Way too many updates...

This was not an extension I thought much about until a few months ago. It sat in the background and was available on the very rare times I wanted to use the obscure Evernote Web Clip feature. However since sometime earlier this year (2022) this extension seems to need an update every other day! And each of those updates requires a restart of Safari. This is very disruptive for people like me who keep multiple windows open each with multiple tabs.

The strange thing is the Web Clipper extension updates never seem to add any significant new functionality. So I'm not sure why they can't be done without requiring a restart of the whole browser or at least batched up so that they are delivered once a quarter or something. Honestly, it has become so frustrating that it prompted me to specifically come and write this review to implore the developers to moderate their release schedule or find another way to deliver the updates so that they are not as disruptive. If it continues in this way, I will probably just disable the extension and not use the web clip feature from my Mac.

Please Evernote Devs, it is not good UX to require us to constantly restart the browser. Please think about your user's experience and try to make it easier rather than more burdensome.

I would normally give this a solid 4 stars since it does the job it promises to do in an efficient and functional way, but isn't so ground breaking that it demands a 5 star review. Unfortunately, the constant updates and the almost daily prompt that the request for restart throws makes me reduce the rating. I feel I'm being generous by only taking it down 1 to 3 stars. My frustration level at constantly having to restart Safari is really is more of a 2 star reduction. I will be glad to change this review, if the developer acknowledges their ability to improve and changes the extension’s release practice.
