Description

Search for the lost chord by exploring the infinite tonal spectrum of Just Intonation.

Relax to chime sounds that you create. Set the sleep timer at night for a melodic slide into sleep. Or set the wake timer to gently rise from an afternoon meditation.

Select from the builtin chime mixes, sounds and tunings or create your own on your iPad.

All sounds are created in real-time using additive synthesis made possible by the AudioKit audio framework. Experiment with creating your own sound by stacking up to six sine wave harmonics, each with their own attack, decay, sustain, release characteristics.

Use the builtin tuning systems or import from the hundreds of freely available Scala musical tunings found on the web.

Please note that the iPhone version of HarmonicChimes does not have sound editing capabilities due to its limited screen size.

Works on iOS v13.3

iPhone 8, iOS 12.4.1. Opens, but does not work. No sound, no scrolling of presets, icons remain dimmed except for triple line menu.

Part#2, uninstalled and reinstalled as per developer recommendations...no change, sorry to say.

Part#3, upgraded iOS to latest, now chimes work fine.

Developer Response ,

This is very strange. If you are not seeing an initial chime displayed in the view then something went wrong with your installation. Can you at least see a list of the builtin chimes? (Tap the triple line menu item and then pick Chime Mixes.) If that fails then I suggest you delete the app from your phone and reinstall it from the app store. HarmonicChimes has been tested on all iOS versions from 9.0 to 13.1.3.

>Part #2
The first time you launch the app after installing from the store you will see a list of builtin Chime Mixes. There are 29 builtin Chime Mixes. Pick one by tapping a name in the list. If you are not seeing this list (you should) then tap the triple line menu item and select Chime Mixes to display the list. If none of this is working for you then I have no further advice to offer. I have tested this extensively on my iPhone running iOS 12.4.3 and I am not able to reproduce any problems. Do you also have an iPad? If you do, could you try the app on your pad?

#3
I ’ve been thinking about this all day and had two thoughts. HarmonicChimes ships with a small 200kb SQLite database which contains the chime data. That database is copied to the user’s data area on the first launch. If for some reason it should fail to copy you would see an empty Chime Mix list.

Why would it fail to copy?

1) the app in the store could be missing resources? I checked that by purchasing my own app and downloaded it just as you would. It runs just fine, as expected.

2) your iPhone is out of storage?

Please check your iPhone’s available storage: goto Settings, search for Storage (general), and see if you have at least 200kb available. If your phone is full it is quite possible that the app can not make a copy of the chime database. I never thought that would happen but the next version will have an error log for unexpected situations.

Please let me know if this is your problem.

>Part #3
If HarmonicChimes is now working for you can you please change the title of your review so it does not say “does not work”? Thanks, and happy chiming!
