Helvault - MTG Scanner 9+

I’ve been using Helvault (now legacy), and it’s always performed. This update is just even better. Some camera glitch got fixed, missing sorting were added, the most needed iPad support got implemented. Basically, they listened to the community.

Before complaining on their choice going new app, legacy the other and having to repurchase options, look at their faq and prices. I much prefer their decision over a sub.

If your not an active collector, buying and selling, or a shop (professional), than this is certainly for you. If you are, then it may still be for you ;)

There’s nothing in this “updated” app that couldn’t have been added to the “legacy” app. Anyone that already paid for these features have to pay again, and this developer refuses to accept the criticism that this is wrong.

I was excited to see a new version of this app thinking there would be new features and expecting to have the same features I already paid for in the original app.

Unfortunately the app is basically exactly the same, and I actually prefer the dark look of the legacy app over this one.

I contacted support about the issue of being essentially charged twice for the same thing. And after a lot of back and forth, I was finally given one free feature on the new app - but not any of the others I had paid for on the legacy app.

After this I was asked to write a review, which in hindsight felt a bit uncomfortable since I am still being expected to pay for something I already paid for.

The positive here was that the response from support was fast. But that doesn’t help if the problem is not resolved.

The only difference that I can see in the new app is that now iCloud syncing is supported but you need to pay for that separately too, of course. And who knows if another app just doesn’t come out again and demand we pay again.

This is not the treatment I had in mind after supporting the legacy app. Yes, it was nice to get a coupon for the free card scanner component, but I should never have been expected to pay for it, or the other features if I had already done so on one app.

I don’t recommend this app. The developer is alienating the fans of their previous work by treating people this way.
