Description

DocsOpen is an adaptation for iPhone and iPad of the app AbiWord, which is a free word processing program similar to Microsoft Word. It is suitable for a wide variety of word processing tasks. It supports both basic word processing features such as lists, indents and character formats, and more sophisticated features including tables, styles, page headers and footers, footnotes, templates, multiple views, page columns, spell checking, and grammar checking.

This app comes with several import and export filters providing a partial support for such formats as HTML, Microsoft Word (.doc), Office Open XML (.docx), OpenDocument Text (.odt), Rich Text Format (.rtf), and text documents (.txt)

The subscription inside the app consists on the following:

- The length of the subscription is 1 month
- The price of the subscription is $0.99
- The subscription will be auto-renewed every month so that you can continue enjoying the app without ads.
- Payment will be charged to iTunes Account at confirmation of purchase
- Subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period
- Account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period, and identify the cost of the renewal
- Subscriptions may be managed by the user and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to the user's Account Settings after purchase
- No cancellation of the current subscription is allowed during active subscription period

It has it’s perks...but.

This app definitely has it’s perks. It’s a fairly simple to use program and it offers a really simple and easy to use design that looks strikingly similar to Open Office ( a free suite that is used on Windows). HOWEVER; there is zero rotate compatibility. Given I use an iPad, that was my deal breaker. There is also a considerable lag from the keys being pressed (both with keyboard and on screen). The ability to have punctuation correction, an in app thesaurus, dictionary, file conversion and more is really neat. However, the lack of app/screen rotation and keystroke lag is a real bummer. If either of these get updated and work flawlessly, I would reconsider making this a primary app for every day use.
