RectLabel is an offline image annotation tool for object detection and segmentation.

Good tool, terrible pricing

First bought the app in 2018 for $2.79. It was a great tool, especially the hot keys that made switching between labels faster.

However, in 2019, the hot key feature, along with a few others, were put behind a pay wall and I had to pay $27.99 to get it back.

This practice is shady to say the least. Just as I’m writing this review, they seem to be switching to a subscription model.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they force existing users to subscribe for the features they already paid for.

We are preserving features which you bought.

We added "Copy & Paste Features", "Core ML Features", and "0-9 and A-Z Hotkeys Features" to the purchase dialog.
If you bought Full App before adding these features, these features were added after you bought Full App.
If you need, please buy them.

This is the perfect labelling tool for turicreate, labelling is quick and easy

Limited Output options and lacklustre UI

I ideally hoped that I could do more with my annotations after working on them… it saves annotations in one file for every single image. In addition there aren’t any options to tweak any output paramenters. I wanted to use this dataset as a DataFrame but it’s mostly useless now. The UI also needs quite a bit of polish. Tagging was relativley easy and that was a highlight.
