Description

iFretless Bass is a professional virtual instrument that provides bass and guitar players with an expressive fretless playing surface. The layout is like an eight string bass guitar with the notes colored black and white like the keys of a piano. Although it looks different from a guitar neck, bass players will find it surprisingly easy to use.

The app's ability to measure the force of touches on the screen allows it to respond to dynamics and accented notes with a wide range of different tones for each instrument.

So natural sounding

Recording sampled bass has never felt or sounded better. If you've ever recorded repeated 1/8th notes on a keyboard bass patch you know how unnatural it sounds. As an ex bass of 15 years this would really irritate me. But playing two fingers on iFretless's bass string produce some very authentic bass lines. The new support for Audiobus is a great feature for my iOS recording environment.

There are several preferences you'll have to tweak inside the app to match your playing style. You can even send out midi to control sounds on other apps that support virtual midi and maintain iFretless's expressiveness.

What happened to Octave and Double?

The previous version had buttons to double up strings or octave them. That was a great feature. They are gone in the v4 update. I wish I hadn’t updated.

Developer Response ,

The main reason for the v4 update was that v3 crashed a lot because the code was too complicated. Version four is significantly more stable, but we simplified the code to get that increased stability and lost some features in the process. We apologise for that.
