Island Savings is a division of First West Credit Union. Access is available to all members who currently use our online banking service. If you're not a First West Credit Union member, no problem—simply contact any Island Savings division branch to set up a new membership and you'll be set up with access right away. To login, you'll need your Member Number, your Branch and your Personal Access Code (PAC).

Needs update

While I like the in person service and free accounts the app needs work. The sign in takes way to long, my other bank app has face recognition and is so convenient. I can’t set up bills to be paid automatically every month or 2 weeks.

Save Yourself the Trouble and AVOID

Island Savings' App and online banking is the reason to not use credit unions. It's as if the developers of them went out of their way to make the user experience/interface as inefficient and as buggy as possible.

I truly have no words for how terrible things are laid out and how terribly they work. Just the log in credentials necessary to use Island Savings online banking / app is cumbersome: why do I need to put in the branch location? It's as if the developers think this is some groundbreaking security feature, yet no other banking platform requires this. Also, it would be much too convenient to use one's card number to log in, so instead, use a member number!

Speaking of security, I would be very cautious even trusting IS with your money. I have a business account thru IS with three members having access. When one member in particular sends an etransfer from their PERSONAL IS account, for some reason the email linked to the BUSINESS account will receive an email saying the recipient of said etransfer has accepted it. Let me reiterate that this member is sending money from their personal account, which should be in no way associated with the business account, and yet the business is receiving an email concerning the transaction activity of the personal account. Talk about a serious security concern.

But back to the app: remember how cumbersome the log in credentials are? So you need your account number (not card number) + branch location + personal access code (password). Well once you have all that sorted, try getting the app to save those login credentials for faster signins. Good luck finding that functionality easily, and once you do set it up, prepare for these saved logins to randomly stop working, so you have to go thru the whole process again for no clear reason.

Trust me, I could go on, but, if you've made it this far, congrats, and heed my warning. Stay away from this dumpster fire of an app / online banking experience. It's a shame that IS represents itself this way in the digital world, for in the physical world the employees are often friendly. However, based on this app and online banking platform, it's not worth using IS for your banking in my opinion.

Why so many new downloads?

I love the app but it’s a total pain having to download new versions all the time. I’m on at least my fifth new download in the last year and it’s getting a bit ridiculous.
