Simple in a good way

The Jabra app is simple and has everything you need quickly right on the home page which is nice. It’s a bit slow to connect to your device sometimes but that’s the only negative I see in the app.

left earbud quiet

Jabra Elite 65t. my left earbud went really quiet all of a sudden. i know this doesn’t relate to the app per se but i’m still providing this feedback. the same problem is apparently widespread as i’ve found many comments online. it’s unfortunate as this is otherwise a really good product.

UPDATE: i fixed it by cleaning with a toothpick inside the mic hole near the 2 copper contacts on the ear bud. they sound amazing again! BUT I feel there should be a disclaimer written in the manual about keeping this hole clean. i could have saved hours of digging around on forums..

ALSO: under the rubber molding inside the case, 2 silver magnets tend to become unglued and roll around loosely which causes problems. this too is a widespread problem as the adhesive is done poorly. i fixed it by pulling the rubber right out of the case and re-gluing the silver magnets.

CONCLUSION: it seems maintaining these over time becomes a diy project. fixing the issues isn’t terribly difficult. just know that they will probably need maintenance over time.

EQ Preferences not saved - Dealbreaker

The problem is the app doesn’t save or retain the selected EQ Preset. Dealbreaker.

I have the Elite 3. The Sound Modes section of the app has 6 Music Presets for hard-coded (by Jabra) settings of a 5 band EQ. The 6 Presets have labels like Neutral, Speech, Treble Boost, etc.

When I take the buds out of the case to start a new listening session, the Sound+ app takes a few seconds to find the Elite3’s, and the Sound Mode in the app has changed back to the default value of “Neutral”. WWWHHHYYY? This is ridiculous. EQ should be a one-time configuration setting that is saved in the app and in the headphones.

The user should not be required to manually put this back where they want it, every time they listen to their music.

Now…the confusing part is that the headphones actually appear to retain the EQ setting, at least for short durations of being in the charging case. I repeated the following test a few times with the same outcome: listened to music with the EQ set to “Treble Boost”. Put the buds back in the case for 1 minute. Take the buds out and start listening to music. The buds still sound like “Treble Boost” but the Sound+ app says the EQ settings is “Neutral”. Change the EQ setting to “Treble Boost” and there is no change to sounds from the buds (since the buds had remained in “Treble Boost”). Change the EQ setting to “Neutral” and the sounds then changes to Neutral. Confusing and totally unacceptable. You never know what you are getting for EQ by looking at the Sound+ app.

There is no info on this in the User Manual. I haven’t yet tested this to see what happens if the buds are totally shut off, or after being in the case for an extended period of time.

A prior comment from Jabra on a similar complaint suggests the earphone EQ will reset if powered down (vs retain EQ if in the charge case?) This would be a complete dealbreaker for any larger over the ear BT headphones with a power button that gets turned on only when used (Jabra office headsets: I won’t be buying you). Other buds for sure don’t have this bug (eg; Sony XM4).
