Description

Ka-Block! is a content blocker for Safari that prevents ads and tracking scripts from slowing down web pages you visit.

Many sites use third-party scripts to track your behavior across the web, causing pages to load slowly and draining your Mac’s battery. Blocking these scripts dramatically improves page load time, data usage, and battery life.

- Fast, curated filter list
- Open source
- Also available for Safari on iPhone

Protecting privacy and performance on the web is important. We hope you enjoy Ka-Block!

Too basic

- Does not let you choose to block or not friendly ads
- Does not let you block ads manually whill on a website
- There is not any kind of personalization
- When the ads are blocked on the top of the page, the app leaves a blank space instead of directly deleting the whole space the ad ocupied, leaving you with the majority of News webpages with a blank header.

In conclusion: it’s free and bocks the majority of ads but lacks too amny things. Uninstalled and went back to adblocker.

Works well for me

I have been using uBlock origin for a while, but it is “deprecated” on Safari 12. Safari has changed its model for extensions. I was worried about this - was Apple caving to the Ad industry? After looking at the Github page for this App, I decided to try it. Yes, it is strange that you need an App to install and extension, but you have to blame Apple for that, not this App. Basically, you download the App, you run it (once), you quit it, and you then enable it in Safari/Preferences/Extensions. Not the “it just works” philosophy that Apple promotes. But once I went through these steps, I was very happy with Ka-Block. The documentation says that some adverts will get through, but on my most annoying web sites (both of which, by the way, I pay for access to), Ka-Block! does a pretty good job. In one case, a grey box replaces the Ad, but I prefer that to the actual Ad.

This app/extension does not give the complex control of uBlock origin, but I actually found all that control too complicated anyway. I just want a fast simple access to my web content with minimal intrusion by Ads and trackers, plus a speedy load, and this app/extension semms to do that for me.

Recommended.

No

When you download the app and open it, there are directions to turn it on, but doesnt work. You cant enable kablock, so all it does is take up space on the computer
