Description

The Healer Stones of Kapaemahu honor four mahu, individuals of dual male and female spirit, who long ago brought healing arts from Tahiti to Hawai’i. The app, which operates on- or off-site, offers a self-guided tour of the monument, an interactive experience with the stones, and information on how to respectfully visit the site in Waikiki.

The app is fully bilingual, available in both English and Olelo Niihau, the only form of the Hawaiian language unbroken by foreign contact.

Augmented Reality experiences require ample space and battery power. For the best experience, use this app in an uncluttered space and make sure your device is well-charged. The app will ask for access to your device's camera for the AR to work, but no data will be saved.

KapaemahuAR is a production of Studio Ahilele in association with Kanaka Pakipika and Qwaves. It was made possible by generous grants from Nia Tero and The Omidyar Ohana and Robert Emens Black Funds of the Hawaii Community Foundation.
