Smalltalk.fm grew out of a partnership with Kids Listen, a nonprofit made up of podcasters, parents, and teachers advocating for high-quality audio content for kids. We understand that kids are deep and thoughtful listeners. In our survey of family listening habits, we found that 74% of kid listeners initiate discussion after hearing a podcast. 80% request to listen to an episode again… and again. 20% listened to an episode 10 or more times!

Parents told us that they wanted an easy way for kids to find great, age-appropriate podcasts. That’s why we created the Kids Listen app.

Version 1.4.1

In this version we present to you: Smalltalk.fm! Smalltalk has the same great shows as the Kids Listen app, it's just that now we've changed outfits. How do you like our new clothes?

A Really cool idea but keeps crashing!

Keeps crashing on my daughter’s iPhone. Works fine on mine. It’s frustrating because I would love for my daughter to have safe access to these great audio resources without so much of my supervision.
It’s really great on my phone, though!

Great idea but not affordable

I love this single place where my child has access to children’s only content. But $5/mo to access content that is essentially otherwise free (and I’m assuming still advertising to you in the actual podcasts) seems like a lot.

Plus, while it’s working well (despite the limited content) on my device, it’s simply crashing again & again on my child’s device. If I’d accessed it there first, I would have simply given up.

Good, but...

It’s good but it keeps crashing and I don’t like that you have to pay just to get the full access!
