iMS-20 is an analog synth studio; a complete recreation of the Korg MS-20 synth, an analog sequencer, a drum machine, and even Korg's Kaoss Pad technology. Plus, you can share your songs online via the SoundCloud!
iMS-20 is a complete music production app for iPad. It consists of a complete recreation of the legendary Korg MS-20 analog synth with the patching capability, plus a 16-step analog sequencer based on the Korg SQ-10, a six-part drum machine which can create drum parts by simply tapping the buttons, and a seven-channel mixer with 14 types of effects.
In addition, iMS-20 offers dual Kaoss Pads allowing you to generate music by simply stroking the pad and moving your fingers over it. Experiment to come up with wild musical phrase! And with access to the SoundCloud audio platform*, you can publish your songs, or collaborate on ideas with people anywhere in the world from within the app!

In one fell swoop, Korg has destroyed their competition.
The best salespeople are educators. Korg has adopted the role of teacher - both in reiterating electronic history, and combining it with cutting edge sequencing techniques. The MS20 is a formant modelling analog synth. The Kaoss pad is an improvising sequencing beast. add the 2 together, you have Hundreds of dollars worth of gear for under 20$ already patched together properly.
The original MS20 is used by William Ørbit, Aphex Twin, Hardfloor, Air, SkyLab, Stereolab, Vince Clarke, Astral Projection, Biosphere, Apollo 440, Mr. Oizo, Jimi Tenor, The Prodigy, OMD, Freddy Fresh, Luke Vibert, Einstuerzende Neubauten, Add N to (X), Daft Punk, Coldcut, Die Krupps, Skinny Puppy, Electronic Dream Planet, Jimmy Edgar, Front 242, Front Line Assembly, The Legendary Pink Dots, KMFDM, Severed Heads, Royksopp, The Faint, The Shamen, Jean-Michel Jarre, and Portishead.
At the 2010 Shambhala (western canadas largest party, burning man north) Beardyman used 2 Kaoss pads with rave reviews. The exciting thing is the availability of making cutting edge sound in a dynamic fun way. My non musical friends can write beats I can improvise off just by playing with 2 xy Kaoss pads.
Features:
1) Monophonic synth with 3 parameter controls, 3 voltage controls. The voltages can be patched to the patching bay to give a stunning array of multilayered multi-filtered effects. Parameters control individual settings on the synth. Instead of sequencing many parts, only one part is sequenced, the rest of the tones are generated from the original pattern.
2) 6 Drum patterns. Each drum can be manipulated in much the same way as the synth, ie HPF LPF 2x OSc, 3 modulators, and adsr but there are no parameter and voltage sequences. Very easy to create a beat using Kaoss pads to sequence. BOth synth and drums have sequenced pitch octave gate volume and panning.
3) each channel has its own Fx assignment [short/bpm delay, 2 reverbs, chorus/flanger, eq, compressor, lofi distortion, lpf/hpf/bpf, wah, decimator, grain shifter] and there is an overall fx send on the mixer, again with each channel having its own wet/dry
This will be an absolute delight for anyone familiar with synthesis modelling and analog gear. dream come true. The patching bay can be tricky, i recommend downloading the manual for the original ms20 to get familiar with it.
So far, easiest fastest way to get relevant current sounding synths, BEAUTIFUL deep intelligent bass, Super danceable intuitive rittims - of any instrument or program that i have ever seen.
