Amazing App and Program for Triathlon and Running

6months ago I thought I would never be ‘fast’ again after loosing a lot of fitness over the previous 6-8months, but I put my trust in the mottiv half marathon plan and it expertly guided me to a 1:37 half (4:37/km) today on a hilly course! It was a PB by over 5minutes!!!!!! So pleased with that and thankful for the mottiv program. Just wait for another 6month!!!!

The best training app I have ever used

Three years ago, at 49, I completed my first-ever race—a half Ironman. At the start of my triathlon journey, I used TrainingPeaks and self-coached, but despite my best efforts, I didn’t see the real gains I was hoping for. That all changed when I started using the Mottiv app. This app doesn’t just offer training plans; it provides fully customized, easy-to-follow programs that adapt to my progression and performance levels. Hands down the best training tool!

I just completed my first ever triathlon (Olympic distance) and I’m so thankful for choosing Mottiv - not only for the quality structure the app provided (and Taren for all the videos and podcast) but also very much the Mottiv community for sharing all the tips and tricks and everything else along the way. I was amazed at how much community spirit there is in this realm. A general overview of my experience using the app: - my goal was to finish in the average time for my age group and I beat it by ~3 minutes (2:50) - the app helped me nail it right from the outset -The sessions had all the required elements and built things up in a smart way, managing rest and exertion with thoughtful tapers worked in - The plan had enough flexibility for me to skip sessions or to swap them and not throw anything off - I learned so much about training smarter and focusing on zone 2 while balancing the strength and speed aspects well … well-guided in both the bike and run disciplines especially I’d given myself 6 weeks to train specifically once I’d signed onto this program.m (should have done more looking back) I didn’t fully appreciate what I’d gotten myself into but the support from the app and all the detailed workouts made things seemed doable even though it was an aggressive timeline. I started off with just using the YouTube resources and triathlon plan outlines from magazines but switching to the app was a real gamechanger. From day one swim the swim workouts were so detailed and different but gave me all the tools I needed to be able to swim more comfortably and efficiently in open water… I started with thinking just distance and speed mattered as my focus but learned so much more about sighting, managing effort, body positioning, etc… the drills were a bit tough but I’m so glad I did (most of) them. Would also get all the swim toys next time to really get my technique dialed in the training sessions During my race my watch choked in the run. No metrics for that part so I couldn’t gauge pace or distance. I guess the run was a truly natural experience that was only based on how I felt, and the app was really good for me learning how to gauge effort based on heart rate and perception (RPE or rate of perceived exertion) So many great strategies along the way too from the app as I got closer to race day to build confidence . - Showed up the night before to do bike check. Also practiced transitioning and spotting important landmarks. -The day before primers I felt were very helpful to finally put all 3 sports together - Managed race effort reasonably well especially coming into the transitions - did the warm up drill in the lake pre-race - not the full one but a good chunk of it and was happy I did as it really gave me a feel for the water One aspect that was quite different from the app for me was nutrition, but learning how to figure out what worked for me was in part guided by the app nonetheless. All in all it was a great experience and I was very happy to see everyone having a great time and challenging themselves! Happy triathloning fellow (as Taren would say) trainiacs!! 🏊‍♂️ 🚴🏃🏽‍♂️
