Description

Every time you multitask with many apps open, you need all the windows arranged accordingly. Magnet makes this process swift and easy.

In one drag to the edge of your display, you size any app into half of the screen. And by dragging its windows to corners, you snap them into quarters. Sliding on the bottom edge creates thirds, or even sixths on ultra-wide monitors. Taking advantage of such arrangements eliminates app switching and greatly enhances workspace efficiency.

All commands can be triggered via keyboard shortcuts as well. You can find a predefined set of hotkeys under the menu bar icon, or create ones that fit your habits.

Magnet helps me organize my windows on-screen

Perfect for people who multi-task! If you’re missing the "snap assist” feature in Windows since Windows 7, you’ll love Magnet, which performs the same function for the Mac desktop. Drag a window by its titlebar to the left or right edge of the screen, and the window will fill that half of the screen. Drag to a corner, and it’ll fill 1/4 of the screen. It works like a charm, and it doesn’t take too much RAM or CPU. This is from an 2.5GHz mid-2011 21.5” iMac, running Yos: Magnet uses 0.0% CPU while idle, spiking to 30% while you’re moving windows around, with between 3 and 5 threads. It uses 17.2MB of RAM, compressed to 4.1MB.

Windows overlap when resized

Windows overlap including native Osx apps when resized. If the purpose of this app is to save time resizing to tile mulitple windows, you will end up doing it manually most of the time anyway. This is acknowledged as a rare problem in the FAQ, but happens with everyday apps like Chrome, Opera, Neo-office, VLC, Slack.

Awesome!

Simple and works perfectly. Be sure to spend 2 minutes familiarizing yourself with the hotkeys -makes a big difference.
