Description

Save time and be more productive.
The MASA app saves time by scoring and profiling your clinical swallowing exams.
You focus on the patient, MASA app does the work.

MASA (Mann Assessment of Swallowing Ability) is a scoring tool for the standardized MASA standardized clinical examination of swallowing. This app automatically scores the exam as administered by a clinician. Results include a total score (out of a maximum of 200), a dysphagia severity ranking, an aspiration risk index ranking, and a graphic profile of strengths and weaknesses identified by the examiner.

This MASA app is available as a monthly or yearly subscription. Your subscription entitles you to unlimited access to the MASA scoring tool. The subscription will not automatically renew. Once the subscription period expires, you won't be automatically charged. You will be prompted to renew your subscription the next time you use the app. The home screen will let you know when your subscription will expire. You can choose to renew before your subscription expires.

The MASA app is intended for dysphagia clinicians assessing their patients. Always seek a doctor or trained healthcare professional’s advice when interpreting the results of a MASA clinical examination of swallowing.

Disappointing

I’m not sure who this app is aimed at because an experienced clinician would not have any use for it and a novice one would not learn from it. Namely, because there is No data to show how the “risk” was quantified. You input a self reported parameter into a “calculator” and it spits out a number without any references. What are they using to determine how “mild” risk for aspiration is determined. Maybe future edits will strengthen this tool.
