ELD COMPLIANCE
The Motive Driver App makes recording Hours of Service (HOS) on your iPhone or iPad fast and easy.
It complies with the FMCSA regulations, including Part 395. When used with the Motive Vehicle Gateway device, the app helps fleets and individual commercial drivers meet their obligations outlined under the ELD mandate.
Supports current Canadian Federal Hours of Service (HOS) regulations.
Connect the Motive Driver App to the Motive Vehicle Gateway via Bluetooth to stay compliant through an electronic logging device (ELD).
Proactively alerts you when you’re running out of driving time to avoid Hours of Service (HOS) violations.
Displays total hours worked for the week and your available Hours of Service for any given day and the following day.
Can be switched to Inspection Mode to show ELD logs to an officer during a roadside inspection without compromising the driver’s privacy.
TRACKING & TELEMATICS
When dispatched, GPS location data is shared to the Motive Fleet Dashboard to update dispatchers and fleet managers on stops and arrivals.

Review Motive Dashcam videos and safety events to understand driving performance.
See your DRIVE risk score, a benchmark against Motive’s entire network of vehicles.

Safety: The "Mark as reviewed" button for safety behaviors is now only enabled for drivers after all safety event videos have been fully watched, ensuring drivers review all videos for self-coaching.

Good app but missing a feature
App is great, clean but missing a feature to use location of your phone to automatically log your drive time. That would make it a 10/10 app.

Great Concept, Poor Execution
The idea behind the Motive Driver app is commendable, but unfortunately, the app is plagued with significant bugs and misinformation. The most glaring issue is the inaccurate driving score system, which often provides misleading feedback.
For instance, while driving at night wearing black gloves, I was listening to a lecture and briefly held my ear to hear better. Despite claiming to use advanced AI technology, the app mistakenly notified my manager that I was hiding a phone (an iPhone 15) in my hand. This error is not only frustrating but also highlights the app's failure to accurately interpret actions, making it seem foolishly smart.
Additionally, there seems to be little difference in the driving score whether one is driving extremely cautiously or carelessly. This undermines the app's credibility and usefulness for improving driving habits.
Until these serious issues are addressed, the app's potential remains unrealized.
