Description
My Family Room is a secure service provided by the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) that gives parents and guardians access to time-saving features and can help make communicating with your school easier.
With My Family Room, you can:
• Register for School: if you are new to the UCDSB or have another child ready for school, skip the paper forms and register online.
• Report Lates & Absences: let your school know if your child will be late or absent by reporting through the mobile app or website.
• Receive absence notifications to your smartphone, and either call the school or respond online to immediately let the school know that your child is safe.
• Receive phone calls, emails, or text messages pertaining to your child, such as absence notifications, school emergencies, bus cancellations, and school events.
• Easily customize your contact preferences for how to receive emergency and urgent notifications (for example, receive urgent notification by text message, while having non-urgent notifications go to your email).
• Provide consent electronically for school activities and field trips.
• Conveniently approve and pay for school events on the mobile app or website. Payment processing is by industry leader PayPal so you can be sure that your banking information is secure and protected by PCI-DSS industry security standards. Events you have approved and paid for automatically get added to your child's calendar which can be viewed in My Family Room.
• View your child’s school calendar online, including PD days, exam days, and other calendar items entered by your child’s teachers and school staff.
• View key contact information for your child’s school, such as phone numbers and email addresses for Principals, Vice-Principals, and office staff.
• View your child’s contact and demographic information on file (address and phone numbers), plus health information, transportation details, and absence history.

Parents will find improved event visibility in their calendars, making it possible to review previous orders now! For mobile users, we've added a friendly website prompt to guide you from the browser towards your more optimized mobile app. We've developed additional support options for event-related issues that may arise, and we've enhanced our overall error handling to provide you with more information when something goes wrong. Awful to use
The app almost never works and I’m constantly having to request paper copies of the same forms from the school.
Absolute garbage.

No Notifications?
It’s nice to have an app that will connect parents with the teacher and school events, also with the capabilities of a wallet to fund pizza day and subway day.
With all of the important information that is contained in the application My Family Room absolutely needs to include Notifications otherwise we miss time sensitive info like when permission slips need to be signed, notices of upcoming assemblies, personal messages from our children’s teachers…the list goes on. If I don’t get a Notification…I don’t know about it. Please add this very important feature.

Thank you for your feedback, we currently do have emails sent about events, which does list due dates and other pertinent information, but I can certainly see how mobile push notifications could be a valuable added feature! I will take this away to be considered for future improvements.

Awful
The UI and UX are awful on this app. Needs a complete overhaul.
