OmniOutliner 5 4+

Don’t freak out. This is a pretty great outliner app. I was stuck on a large project/document. I could not get my head wrapped around it and kept getting frustrated. Then I had the idea of using an outline to help me get it out of my head on onto paper. Looked at the outliner from our friends in Redmond and was not very impressed. Omni Outliner has a very good "Quickstart Guide". A few minutes and you get the basics.
Also, this is NOT some scam app. Think of it as buy what you need (BWYN). If you just need a reader, it is free. If you need the core functions, buy the Essentials upgrade. The cost is moderate and I was more than glad when it got me going after hours/days of getting nowhere. If you are a heavy duty user and need the all the functions, buy the Pro upgrade. No scams, no tricks, BWYN. Too many other companies have gone to subscription models to “rent” massive software packages you only need a part of.

Once you get into the Omni Apps, there is no turning back, since they are some of the best on MacOS or iOS.

This is THE outlining and information organizing app, i use for education, consutling, planning, writing -it changes everything.

It’s nuts how a bunch of the negative reviews on here are about BUGs, (which i’ve never dealth with mind you) and those should all have been emails to teh Omni-Group who’d handle them fast and most helpfully. Those are not reviews, those are support issues and have nothing to do with the many years long tradition of OmniOutliner - only a fool would take those reviews to heart.

This version is built on the “trial” model available for the App Store = meaning it comes as a free app on a trial of the Pro version, with an in-app purchase to unlock the regular app and to upgrade to Pro for the long haul (yes its awesome, Pro is a must have) - the “free” app you get IF you don’t do an in-app purchase is a “reader” app to be able to open Omnioutliner files and read them, which is very handy when you use omni outliner so much, like i do and want to send/share un-finished work with people who dont want to buy the full app.

this app used to be hundreds of bucks, so i couldnt be more excited that it’s as cheap as it is now - very thankful for the OmniGroup's Apps, one of the reasons i could never leave the Mac platform - all the best apps are here! this is one of them, try it, watch the videos on how to use it, enjoy.

I've been using OmniOutliner and OmniPresence on both my MacBook and my iPad for several years. Back in 1989 I started with an outlining program called Symantec Grandview (this was before Symantec merged with Norton). My whole life was organized on that ancient MS DOS application. I kept running it long after Symantec discontinued it and support for it. When I switched to Apple, I was frantic to find a replacement for Grandview that would run on a Mac. A tech friend kindly steered me to OmniOutliner, and I've been delighted with it ever since. My daily to-do list is on it. Travel notes and ideas are on it. Every project, every major document I've written in the past six years, and key notes for every trip I've taken overseas, has been outlined and organized on it. I check it multiple times a day while travelling with my Gigsky-equipped iPad and Apple SIM card. It is the first application I check when I log into either of my Apple devices, and the last one I check and update before shutting down for the night. The tech support for the company, whether on home on my main system or while travelling abroad with my iPad, on the rare occasion when something goes haywire, has been prompt and superb. What more could I ever want from an app or from a company? Well done, Omnii Group! Apologies for waiting this long to post a review on the App Store.
