Not that accurate

I tried this out in Calgary and found it gave late warnings. For example, it would sound after you had passed a school zone. It also missed a lot of red light/speed light camera locations. Having said that it was accurate 80% of the time.

Speed warnings for roads and highways were very accurate and the data logging worked well.

Two suggestions.
1 Provide the ability to add/amend red light camera info.

2 Better use of logged trip data. For example provide a monthly travel report showing fuel cost data.

Well worth the initial price, but app crashed when deleting stored trips

I have had this app since my first iPhone (3G), and I use it EVERY time I drive.

I do find the need to pay for map updates yearly a bit excessive, expessially since it seems that there are no updates during that period and there is no gaurantee that there will be any updates at all. I live in Edmonton and in a 3 year period there were no updates for any of the long "finished" road projects.

Two major problems I have encounter since my first version are:
1. If you loose GBS connection going through a tunnel (i.e. under the Legislation Bldg), and the RED exceeded speed limit occurs, the only way to get rid of the red sign is to restart the app.

2. When deleting recorded trips, the app will crash at lease 50% of the time.

The only other problem I have is Otto's inability to maintain a consistant GPS lock; often dropping a GPS lock, and then suddenly telling my that I have gone from 50 kph to over 100+ kph, then dropping back to 50 kph in a 2 second span of time!

If the developer reads this, I will gladly provide any logs he may require to resolve these problems.

Otherwise, I depend on this app every time I drive, in spite of the three issues. It would also be nice if the app supported landscape mode, not just portrait mode.

Fix these issues, and supply more timely map updates, and I may give 5 stars.

Changing my review

Resolved the sound issue - it was my phone's issue. Amazing app. Picks up everything including deer crossing signs. You can change the settings to include all signs or some. Also you can change the speed that it will warn you if you exceed it (like 1 over the limit or more, I have mine at 5). If you don't want it on your phone, the company also sells the device. You can still receive texts and calls while it's running too. (Although you shouldn't be texting/talking and driving anyway right?)
