Description
From the makers of FlαshGrεεk — ΠαrsεGrεεk is designed to help students of New Testament Greek by quizzing them on the parsing of verbs, nouns, adjectives, and pronouns. The app includes 9,500+ forms, all taken directly from the Greek New Testament. ΠαrsεGrεεk has numerous criteria to suit quizzes to the user's need.
ΠαrsεGrεεk is designed to help both beginning students and advanced students. Advanced students can quiz themselves by frequency and other criteria. For beginning students, ΠαrsεGrεεk has been designed to be compatible with today's top intro grammars:
- William Mounce, Basics of Biblical Greek (2019)
- S. M. Baugh, A New Testament Greek Primer (2012)
- David Alan Black, Learn to Read New Testament Greek (2009)

Notes et avis
Good parsing program
This is a great start for self testing Greek paradigms. I'm certain it will only improve with time. I was impressed by the use of both frequency, textbooks (no Porter yet though), and the paradigmatic LUW. It's even a bit addictive to use. I can't wait to recommend this to my students. I wish it were around for this last semester. My students would have loved this.
There are a few things I would like to see improved. First, consistency in the parsing. Right now imperfects/ 2aorists have a button for first/third and another for sing/plural but this is not consistently employed and if you mark a form using these buttons one word may be marked as wrong and other words marked as correct. The program should either allow the dual marking or give two words, but not a seemingly random move between the two. This behaviour would be frustrating for beginning students who would believe they parsed the word wrong or it could lead to lower confidence in the program accuracy...either result is not ideal. If you set the criteria to include lexical form you need to be careful in your selection -- once you select you cannot change your answer.
The author is eager to correct any errors in the database and is responsive to feedback, all good signs that this app will only improve with each iteration.
All in all, an excellent app that I will recommend to my students. With just a few tweaks this will be five stars.
Very buggy - not worth $13 CAD
I downloaded this app on the recommendation of my Greek professor with the hopes that it would help my studies. However, there are a number of bugs that make studying with it quite frustrating.
For one, the recent section now contains 4 copies of the one textbook I’ve been using… it seems to add another copy each time I use the app.
Secondly, the grammar and vocabulary pick lists seem to have an unpredictable affect on the cards that are actually presented to me. I have not yet learnt contract verbs, and have thus left the option unselected, however they continue to appear in my study sessions.
On that note, the vocab/grammar selection are not at all intuitive, and I am suspicious that it is not at all working as intended.
Regarding the UI, it is also riddled with bugs: the layout of the main menu will randomly change width such that I need to scroll horizontally; the recent textbook bug mentioned above; the hint button is sometimes clickable, sometimes not.
Regarding improvements/features beyond the bug fixes aforementioned, it would be educationally beneficial to have the option of hiding the English translation of words so the student can practice recalling it. The ability to type in Greek to answer the lexical form portion of a card would also be beneficial.
Now I understand that this is quite a harsh review, and I must say that I will likely continue using the app just as I have not found a better alternative as of yet. However, after having paid $13 CAD I was expecting a smooth user experience (at the least), and hoping for a feature rich application that would streamline my Greek learning experience. I am thoroughly disappointed to say that neither of these expectations have been met. It is my opinion that the developer of this application is charging a dishonest amount for this application, and has not met the quality of work nor integrity that the Lord has commanded of us.

1. The "recent" ones would correspond to the specifics of the last quiz. If you are studying with a single grammar, but changing the content of the quiz, it will remember that if you want to do it again. I am okay with you not liking it, but it isn't a bug.
2. Please send me via the the support email (where these types of issues should be communicated) where the contract verbs are erroneously showing up. It is possible that I have an error in the data or that there is a bug, and if so I would like to fix it.
3. I don't understand what you mean about the lack of intuitiveness for vocab and grammar. I have not had any complaints about this.
4. If you could give me a screenshot (and the details of your device) for when you have a horizontal scroll occurring. It could be that you are using an older device, and so the horizontal scroll occurs.
5. If nothing occurs when you hit the hint button, it is because there is no hint to show.
6. Your suggestion of hiding the english meaning isn't a bad one, I'll think about this for the future. But this is a parsing quiz app, the focus is on morphology, not learning vocabulary. Your suggestion about typing in the word was actually something I tested with users over 15 years ago when I created the app, and the overwhelming response of users was to avoid typing.
As mentioned above, I'd appreciate you send me the relevant information so I can determine what bugs, if any, you are encountering.
Lot's of Greek Fun
I love this app. This little, yet robust tool gives me hours of fun challenging myself in the fundamentals of Greek parsing. This app has really helped me see where some of my grammatical weaknesses are, while giving me confidence in my strengths.
Without any hesitation I recommend Parse Greek to new and seasoned NT Greek students alike. Every axe requires sharpening.
