Nice app, but doesn’t work offline
Overall, Pocket is a great service. Too bad the Mac version doesn’t seem to work when you’re not connected to internet (e.g. on a plane). Loading spinner just spins forever.
Poorly designed, mantained, laggy, inefiucent computer resource hog!
I'm a premium subscriber and I feel it is not worth it.
This app needs to be completely overhauled. I don’t know why an app that merely stores and displays text documents is such a resource hog but it is. It is useless for clipping PDFs, as the document title rarely ever accurate and Pocket does not allow users to manually edit document titles. Keyword tagging sucks. It has no spelling suggestions. Often the in browser tag completion just fails. There is no obvious way to resolve/consolidate redundant tags. You can’t cut and paste tags. Auto tag suggestion is a useless joke, suggesting keywords not even contained in the body of the text and missing obvious ones that are. Also, the search functionality is incredibly primitive and slow, which really defeats the purpose of using Pocket to clip and organize web documents for research. Just to illustrate how poorly maintained the app is, note that it still does not support dark mode in Mac OS. The only reason why I still have Pocket on my system is for the occasions I need to print a document. The browser version of Pocket does does a poor job printing; splitting embedded images between pages. Other than that, I don’t see the point. I wish I had realized how bad Pocket was before I adopted it as my web page clipping app. Now I feel trapped by this poorly designed and maintained solution. I recommend you look at alternatives. Bottom line; don’t trust Pocket with your data!
