If you're on a plant-based, dairy-free or weightloss diet or if you're over 40 old when it is recommended you increase protein intake to prevent age-related muscle wasting, it can be difficult to eat enough protein. Inadequate intake results in muscle wasting and weakness; osteoporosis; brittle hair, dry skin, and weak nails; poor growth, development and wound healing; susceptibility to infections and illnesses; and depression and anxiety. A high protein intake promotes a feeling of fullness and suppresses hunger so helps in the prevention and management of overweight/obesity, and is a feature of low-carb and ketogenic diets. Use this app to help you eat enough protein.
Choose and set your target daily protein intake using the information provided in the app based on current guidelines and expert advice. You can change this at any time.
Synchronize the app (on the Settings screen) if you have other First Line Medical communications nutrient counters (eg in an app bundle) so you only need to record your food and beverage intake once and it will be shared with all apps.
Record your food and beverage intake using the barcode scanner, speech recognition, by favoriting foods, or by using the search function and use the serving sizes provided or change to your serving size.
Your progress towards your target daily intake will be visible immediately in real-time. You can also view your progress over time on the Month view dashboard, and export food diaries and protein intake into a spreadsheet for your own information or to share with healthcare providers.
Apple's HealthKit functionality is integrated in the app's user interface so you can share data with Apple's Health app by tapping the Share button on the Settings screen.
The app is curated and contains 328 common foods and drinks with all 211 plant-based foods/beverages in green type to help the user consume the 30+ different types of plants per week recommended by experts for a healthy gut microbiome.
The app also provides users with the ability to add their own foods and recipes, and offers nutritional information through the Info tab.

Not worth the money

This app is limited and confusing. Definitely not worth the money

Developer Response ,

The app has been redesigned using new Apple technologies. The foods and amounts you eat can be recorded easily and quickly using the barcode scanner, speech recognition (touch the microphone icon), or by favoriting foods and using the serving sizes provided. Your progress towards your target daily intake will be visible immediately in real-time. You can also view your progress over time on the Month view dashboard, and export food diaries and protein intake into a spreadsheet for your own information or to share with healthcare providers. Apple's HealthKit functionality is integrated in the app's user interface so you can share data with Apple's Health app. You can also synchronize the app with all your Apple devices and First Line Medical Communications Ltd apps. The serving sizes are mainly those suggested by USDA Food Data Central, but can be changed at any time via the "Add food" tab to your choice of measurement eg g, oz, cups, pieces. The app is preloaded with 325+ common (mainly healthy) foods and drinks and you can add your own branded and other foods and recipes at any time. This means the app does not require access to the Internet (except on first use of the barcode scanner for a food) or registration, does not collect your data or require additional payments, and there is no advertising.
