Bad phrasing on some questionaries

Multiple questionnaires on the mdosing study are missing basic introductions as to why we’re answering the questions… phrasing on multiple choice questions like: “i felt like___” why is it past tense? It’s a questionnaire about anxiety but it doesn’t give the clear circumstance, except for the topic but it’s missing the scenarios…
Also for the monthly baseline… “how interested have you felt this past month” … interested in what?
these answers will be so skewed depending on someone’s assumptions for these questions.

I’m all for supporting a study but phrasing is kinda vital if you’re looking for useful answers/data in the end, but if you’re not paying someone for this and it’s confusing you’ll lose people fast.

(Happy to change my review knowing this is resolved)

Developer Response ,

Thanks for your feedback, and most of all for participating in a study! We’ve forwarded it to the study team. In some of the examples you mention the wording is from standard validated questionnaires like the DASS-21 and PANAS that have been used in thousands of studies, and some of the wording comes from previous studies on this topic. In these cases it was kept unchanged to allow for valid comparisons to other research. Changing the wording or presentation of a questionnaire mid-study can affect the validity of the data so some phrasings also got locked in. There are definitely ways things could be more clearly presented to reduce confusion, and a revised version of the microdosing study will be out shortly along with an update to the app. We’ll continue to work with the study team to make things more clear going forward, and you taking time to provide feedback is invaluable for helping this process along our best product.
