Description

ReeXpose is the best app for long exposure photography on the App Store. Designed by professionals for professionals, ReeXpose closes the gap between your iPhone and a DSLR camera, allowing you to shoot long exposure photos in RAW. All without the need for additional ND filters!

Select your capture mode, adjust your exposure, chose your capture duration and ReeXpose will do the rest. The result will be a single, 12-bit DNG file editable in your favorite editing software.

Use the “motion blur” mode to make people disappear, smooth the movement of clouds, or give running water a characteristic silky appearance. Use the “light trails mode” for stunning star trails or to transform moving cars into gorgeous rivers of light. Enjoy the flexibility of full manual controls and the extended dynamic range given by RAW files.

ReeXpose is brought to you by REEFLEX, the small studio behind the development of Reeflex Pro Camera and ReeHeld.

— IMPORTANT REMARKS —

• Note #1: *The RAW format is not supported for the ultra-wide camera on devices older than the iPhone 12 series (this is a limitation given by the manufacturer - Apple)
• Note #2: **As usual for long exposure, you must use a tripod and keep the phone as steady as possible. The app does NOT stabilize the images automatically. If this is what you're looking for, then please have a look at our other app (ReeHeld)
• Note #3: ***Bayer RAW images, which are the standard in professional photography, necessarily require editing in post-production in order for you to obtain a properly elaborated photo. The RAW image captured differs from what you see in the live-preview when shooting, as the live preview is based on the elaborated live output which is in JPG. Hence you might notice differences in what you see on the screen when shooting vs the final DNG image (Bayer RAW). We, therefore, suggest fine-tuning your exposure by manually adjusting SS and ISO, and taking several shots in order to find the best settings for your desired shot.

Over exposed

All my pictures end up being over exposed both in manual or automatic mode with iPhone 14 pro What i see is not what I get, so I need to go to manual settings, make it few stop darker than what I want and take a photo, then the exposure will be ok, but it’s a hit and miss each time. I hope they fix that issue.

Updated after the developer answered :
Being a professional photographer for 25 years now, I take mostly night shot for travel and architecture magazines, I know what RAW files are and your RAW files are awful, RAW filed are supposed to be very neutral, a little dull actually to allow processing, adding or recovering shadows, adjusting the light intensity accordingly to the shadows and recovering textures. Your RAW files and nothing of that, they are already processed and the contrast are clearly boosted quite a lot, the dark area are way too dark and the white are are all overblown which make it hard to get a balance in editing after as they go both way at same time. The iPhone 14 pro can produce RAW files by itself, easily editable after but when comparing their RAW files and YOUR RAW files it’s clear your are applying some processing to it to make it pop, and they over processed, that's not the true nature of RAW files, they should be unprocessed, or at least the least possible to give us as much range to work with.

My plan was to use it for test shot on my phone to give an idea to my clients what it might look like before coming back and carrying lot of gear for the real shot, a but like photographer used Polaroid in the old tome of analog photography, but that app is useless for that. Luckily I’ve found something better.

Hi again,

We just want to clarify that ReeXpose DOES NOT apply any processing to the RAW files, besides the frame averaging for the long exposure effect.

The fact that you write that the iPhone 14 Pro can produce RAW files by itself using the native camera app makes me think your understanding is quite limited. The native camera app produces ProRAW files not Bayer RAW.

ProRAW files are linear DNGs (not CFA) and contain tons of processing! This is why they look so natural to you. In case you would not believe in this, a basic google search can easily clarify your doubts.

It is perfectly fine that you don’t like the app, but writing false statements is totally unfair.

Lastly, you might want to consider watching this YouTube video, as that clearly explains the differences between RAW Bayer and ProRAW:

Hopefully you will reconsider your comments and be humble enough to get some learning out of this.

If you’d have further observations you are free to contact us via email at: support@reeflexstore.com

Rest assured we’ll be there to provide further clarifications based on facts.

Hi,

Thanks for your feedback.

"What you see is not what you get" is the definition of RAW photography 😉 Bayer RAW files have a ton of dynamic range, however, a minimum of photo editing in post- production is most often necessary.

Different case is for the elaborated outputs you would obtain when shooting in JPG/HEIF/ProRAW (available in our other app - Reeflex Pro Camera). That's the reason why RAW is more indicated for advanced photographers.

In the future, we will work to include more advanced tools to guide the user towards selecting the best exposure, but for the time being you need to properly adjust ISO/SS manually and work with editing the photos you capture.

Unrealistic images

Another app I paid for as a bundle. Originally paid $6 or something for the app. Then they added some "pro" features they wanted more money for. Then the prices went up.

All this does is stack images on top of each other to create a blurred image. The problem with that is the tiny time gap between the images. It creates a choppy or stuttering effect, that is extremely unnatural and off putting.

If you're using it only for clouds or extremely slow objects. It's not bad, But clearly there's a long way to go for apps to be able to simulate the silky smoothness of a true long exposure photo.
