Description

RSS Menu is a systemwide menu that allows you to read and organize your favourite RSS, Atom and/or JSON feeds.

The articles are automatically updated and you will get a notification when new articles are available or when some other event occurs. In addition to visual notification, you can also enable speech notification and choose one of the many built in voices.

Key features include:

- easy to use RSS browsing with systemwide menu
- very fast parsing engine
- auto detects if a url has one or more feeds
- importing and exporting of OPML files
- many options to customize the menu
- support for saving articles for offline reading
- support for grouping feeds in submenus and adding separators
- support for favourite icons (aka page icons)
- supports RSS, Atom and JSON feeds

What’s New

Version 3.3.1

- fixed an issue that could cause RSS Menu to use a lot of memory
- fixed a bug when exporting to an OPML file
- fixed a bug when importing an OPML file
- fixed a bug that would not update the UI when importing an OPML file
- significantly reduced the amount of memory and CPU usage
- article preview in menu will only show if the article has content

Note: The first time you select the menu it will take a second or so to show up. This is due to a new implementation to reduce the amount of times the menu is being built.

iTunes sucks! ,

new update??

I've been using this app for almost a year now and it seems to be getting quirkier as time goes on. I've gotten use to it not resuming the proper feed count on a reboot, but now it's been giving me posts from feeds that I've already read …at times even years old! I'm hoping a new release comes out fairly soon, or I may be getting something else.

love this little menu app!

This has made keeping up with my RSS feeds waaaay easier (I subscribe to a lot). There's way too much bloatware out there, and this app is clean & functional, and with the ability to nest folders, customizable — and only 1.4 MB!

Just a drop-down menu and a scan of the headlines so I can see whether I want to check out any articles further — no waiting for an app to open and load/update feeds, just instant access to headlines. You can add folders ("groups") in the prefs panel and nest them via drag & drop, so feeds can be organised according to your needs.

I'm giving this 5 stars even though there are a couple of things I would like to see, like the option to turn on a page preview, but I suspect that would slow things down significantly and make this elegant little RSS solution less nimble. The feed rename is occasionally glitchy (won't take a new title), but these are minor details and are insignificant compared to the constant daily usefulness I'm getting out of this app.

Thanks to the developers for a great piece of software!

Love it!

It makes it TOO simple to keep up with lots of RSS feeds, but luckily, you can “Pause Updates," so that can’t blame it for keeping you from your work.

I have been using the free (donationware) version for years, but decided to pay for the latest update when they went “Mac Store Only.” I usually boycott software that does that, but RSS Menu is just too darned good.
