Description

scapple: to work or shape roughly, without smoothing to a finish.
- The Chambers Dictionary

ROUGH IT OUT
Ever scribbled ideas on a piece of paper and drawn lines between related thoughts? Then you already know what Scapple does. It's a virtual sheet of paper that lets you make notes anywhere and connect them using lines or arrows.

MAKE CONNECTIONS
Join up your thinking however you want. Scapple doesn't force you to make connections—every note is equal, so it's up to you which notes have connections and which don't. You have complete freedom to experiment with how your ideas fit together.

IT’S SCAPPLE SIMPLE
Creating notes is as easy as double-clicking anywhere on the page; making connections between ideas is as simple as dragging and dropping one note onto another. And unlike real paper, in Scapple you can move notes around and never run out of space.

I felt let down at first, but not anymore..

I use Scrivener, and I always thought this would be a nice complement to it. So I finally broke down and did buy it last night, and to be honest, I felt let down. I even figured I’d ask for a reimbursement in the morning. While waiting, I figured I decided to read through the help guide. This app is so simple, I thought I wouldn’t need to at first. I was wrong. The features I thought were missing WERE there..

Turns out, this is a wonderful little tool. As simple as it first appears, it does allow for a lot of flexibility in thowing ideas down and playing with their organization afterwards.

I gave it 4 stars because I think there is one thing missing. There should be a button to press to send directly as a new Scrivener document. You can still start Scrivener, drag your ideas into it and re-arrange them there, but to be able to click a button to launch a new Scrivver with my map as text bits would be awesomer. :)

Wonderful but missing one thing...

Connections between nodes would be perfect if the connections could be labeled and if different end-points (arrows, ERD endpoints, etc.) could be selected. For example, if there is "Boy" and "Dog", and they are linked, it could be Boy Pets Dog, Boy Owns Dog, Dog Bites Boy, etc... Having this detail would really complete this app.

Fabulous!

I’ve been looking for exactly this brainstorming tool for ages! The simple, open structure and easily changed links means you can jot things down as fast as you can think them, then organize and re-organize as the linkages emerge or new ideas strike you. You can made different streams of thought different colors, sizes or border-types, and bring order to chaos. Life’s complexities are rarely hierarchical!
Thank you.
