I love the idea and its simplicity is great too. But I think it could use a little more information and nuance when it comes to how Canadian a product is, which can be a kind of complicated question. But I think all of that will come with time, and I think it’s great start to an app with lots of potential.

This barcode country origin app is a step up from the rest I’ve tried — because it references the company distributing the product rather than the company issuing the barcode to that distributor like most other such apps.

Rather than a subjective 1-5 star user-reporting scale for “how Canadian”, I suggest using actual info from product labelling: 1 (Product of Canada), 2 (Made in Canada), 3 (imported by / made for / etc)

In our recent update, we’ve implemented the rating system you recommended. We're working on refining this system, including specifics like distinguishing between products made in Canada (5 stars) and those with components from other countries but assembled in Canada (3 stars).

I like this app. While a bit clunky, it is improving. I love that as users we can add to the database. This will be a powerful tool over time.

One suggestion: I’d like to see a NO maple leaf option. Non-Canadian products don’t deserve a maple leaf.
