The best way to learn about Simplenote is to try it. You'll be asked to create an account. This allows your notes to be backed up online and synchronized automatically.

good but no organisational tools
a great piece of software. Only downside is that you can't organize your notes into category/folders and such. I have 200 notes, I need some breaking those into groups. I don't want my music notes in my writing notes or my shopping notes in my techincal reference notes.
So I guess I'll have to keep looking ....

As an alternative, you can use tags to organize your notes.
Why ugly update?
The old design was perfect. The font colours were matching (the new white font sticks out too much). The old placement of the search and other icons was much more simplistic and clean. This new update is so ugly. I think I might be switching to another platform if I find something cleaner :(
Thee BEST simple note app
The name says it all. It’s simply the best simple not app. Evernote was far too complicated as was every other app I’ve tried. AND SIMPLENOTE IS FREE!!! The iOS app has a passcode feature which is perfect. It syncs with the Mac version although I cannot find the passcode feature on the Mac version. Please keep simplenote simple.
