Description

Join the other kids on the block for the most epic arcade snowball fight.

Snow Kids is a quality platformer game with pure arcade action and retro goodness. Mr. Penguin is sleeping inside his nice house until some pesky kids show up and throw snowballs at the window, waking up Mr. Penguin from his deserved rest. What is Mr. Penguin to do now? The answer is easy, fight back! This means to explore 4 different worlds and get ready to face an army of snow minions and epic bosses. Will you be able to reach the hot lava volcano?

Snow Kids features many different stages, some nice snow plains, a snowy night environment, a mysterious cave, and a dangerous volcano. The snow plain is the easiest stage, with kids throwing snowballs at you and different snow plants and mountain sheep. The snowy night features some pesky minions dropping from the sky just to make your day harder. The mysterious cave is full of beetles and rolling rocks that you'll have to throw down a cliff by tossing a lot of snowballs at them. Finally you'll reach the volcano stage with a lot of fire and enemies ready to fight!

The pixel art in this game is super cute, it resembles cute arcade games from the 90s like Super Mario or Kirby. The controls are also super easy and intuitive, you'll be able to jump, toss snowballs, and explore the level with simple directional keys like in most platformer games. The music are chiptune style and take inspiration from classic Nintendo games from the past.

Don't miss Snow Kids, it's a super fun adventure and cute platformer game. Here's some of the features:

• Addictive action platformer!
• Cute pixel art graphics and music.
• Traditional platform controls.
• Epic boss fights
• Can you find all the gems?

Mostly good

I like the game so far but I think it could be better I may be a bit picky but whatever first I don’t like world four the fire one you have to put out the fire but it just gets boring when you have to do it over and over again. Second world 3 boss. if you get stuck in between 2 snowballs your screwed and it just gets boring cause it takes a long time for it to come down and it has slot of health so I don’t really like that boss fight and that’s about it but I have only played up until world 4

An uncohesive improvement

For starters, this game finally gets right what the browser version didn’t - the responsiveness of the controls is good! The original game was simple, but the challenge game from trying to get the character to go and move where you wanted to, and only having that work out like, half the time.

I’m glad the original music was kept, however, I recall hearing a chiptune rendition of the title music on one of the devlogs. Honestly that version might have worked a little better for Raku’s intro music to lead into. (It appears this has been added in the latest update.) The new lava music is good, but it doesn’t match well with the other music tracks in the game.

I think the fire mechanics are interesting, particularly the one where you have to use snowballs to put out the fire. The platforming challenges are difficult but also fun, and taking advantage of those falling platforms was a good move.

All parts of the game are well done, but the game overall doesn’t feel like a complete unit. This was also an opportunity to address more of the concerns of the first game, like the severe underutilization of the houses. But alas, the game is best enjoyed in pieces, I think. I’m glad Snow Tale finally is on mobile and with playable controls and mechanics. I just wish I liked it more as a whole product.
