This app was much better when it was launched

I was a huge fan/supporter of this app when it was launched in SF/NYC a few years ago. I was living in the Bay Area at that moment, and the app was fun, had a neat design, and the few users they accepted on the app were all amazing - they were all good-looking, successful and I remember reading in an interview that the CEO was very strict with who she initially accepted/allowed to keep using her app. For instance, one time I had matched with a guy who had "Harvard Law School" on his profile, but he told to me that this wasn't true and he had only made that up to get on the app - I flagged him to The League, sent the screenshots to my concierge and got a very quick response telling me the company would take action.

Fast forward to a few years later. The only thing I still like is that the app design is still neat and pleasant for the eyes. I now use the app in Toronto. I've noticed that the app has a lot of bugs - for instance, my preferences are men 22-34 in Toronto, and sometimes I see really random men in the guys they show me, like a 50 y/o man from Manhattan or guys who live in random cities I've never set foot into! I guess there's a few coding errors in the algorithms or bugs in the app itself. Also, the quality of users is definitely not as impressive as it was when I was using the app a few years ago in SF/Bay Area. In 2015/2016, every guy I could see on the app was doing something that was impressive/interesting. But now, it looks like they are letting anyone on the app - and you even see profiles that are obviously fakes (people with fake names or fake photos, such as photos of cartoon characters!). I guess the management team of the app stopped manually approving users to save money, but that's too bad because it was - IMO - the biggest strength of this app over others similar apps. Maybe they switched for an algorithm to approve or reject people - but I don't think AI is really as good as a human for these kind of decisions. I wish they went back to how the app was a few years ago.

The concept is there but no execution

I tried the app for two weeks just to see what was up. Unfortunately, it’s no different than other dating apps. It’s not hard to get approved so it’s the same kind of people on hinge and they are just as unresponsive. Maybe these folks are too busy? If you’re looking to meet-up, better to stick with hinge or bumble.

Hello Giles's - Thanks for the review. As long as your profile is complete, you will be reviewed quicker. At The League, with a maximum of 3 Prospects per day, users do not necessarily see each other the same day which can create a little bit of waiting time on both ends! A Match on The League is meant to be exciting! We’ve found focusing on quality not quantity makes for a much better experience. It encourages users to reach out to their Matches more which leads to more meetups in person than other apps. Additionally, The League is not for casual hookups and is meant for users that are interested in finding more of a relationship. Scam

This is the worst app I ever purchased. I signed up for a year, spent $200 and all of my matches are from the US and I live in Canada. When I contacted the company they told me they can’t do anything about it and would not provide a refund.
