Take video using any camera app and export to videoStack(This app) for stacking. Stacking increases the signal of the photograph and reduces the noise. It makes galaxy and nebulae reveal their colours and structure. The app uses the computation power of the phone and integrates all the individual steps of desktop-based astrophotography into a simple phone app. It works for video taken on a manual or goto telescope.
A Tiff file for the stacked result is automatically saved for your further image processing.

Our Story
Currently it is expensive and time consuming to do astrophotography. In the simplest setup, you need to buy a tracking mount because of the Earth rotation. You need special camera to take interval shot of the sky. Then you need to upload these photographs to desktop software to align and stack them. Now you have a new way to photo deep sky object. You take a video and we will do the rest! The app includes 3 demo videos. The Milky Way video is taken by Daniel Mendell. And the M31 and M42 video is taken by the developer.
File Size
VideoStack can do unlimited time stacking but the file size of the video can be large. It takes up space in your phone. First, use videoCam app to video efficiently. Choose the right frame per second to reduce your video size. For example to shoot the Milky Way, at resolution 4032 x 3024, 1 frame per second, it uses 50 Mb of phone disk for 1 minute of video. So a 5 minute video takes about 250Mb memory. To shoot nebulae or galaxy in a telescope, at resolution 4032 x 3024, 3 frame per second, it uses 150 Mb of phone disk for 1 minute of video. It is possible to half the video size if you choose a lower pixel resolution in VideoCam iOS app. Then export to videoStack app for stacking.
Have fun!

Really strange
So it does stack as far I can understand, but essentially you get a choice of 3 videos and no visible way to add more. Looks like you can’t take a video from the app 🤔
Developer Response ,
No you cannot. It is only stacking video. It has a companion app called videoCam. That is for taking video. It’s link is in the videoStack app. Write me ustransit74@gmail.com for more help. Thanks.
Literally fake
The other astrophotography app by this dev, MilkyCam, is actually pretty good! This app however, is nothing more than a gimmick. If you press to "take the video", it just plays back some footage of stars coming into view versus taking an actual photo. You could be in broad daylight with your camera pointed at your leg, and still get a "photo of the milky way." Absolute scam to pass this off as an astrophotography app.
Developer Response ,
Thank you for using my apps and writing to me. It is my latest astrophotography app so it may be confusing. I will be using your feedback and provide a better update of the app. But let me explain what is happening. Videostack app has a few videos to demonstrate the stacking. Once you select one video, it will stack all the frame in the video into a photo. Most likely you have select the Milky Way video so it stacks them. To video the sky, you have to use another app called videoCam app and export to videoStack for stacking. Yes videoStack app is only used for stacking the video. It is the second part of my video astrophotography apps. You can know more by viewing the tutorials video inside the app. Please write to me so that I can provide further assistance.
