Impressed

Warframe has a more advanced movement system then most games so I was skeptical how well that could be implemented into touch controllers. Upon doing 1-2 missions I had the hang of it down. I adjusted a few things and then I could enjoy the game without a problem. Game ran smoothly and it’s still super early in the release I can not wait to see what’s coming in to future!

Troubles

So far, the game itself seems to run smoothly on my iPhone 14 Pro Max.

But here’s the issues.

1. Unfinished implementation of iOS. - the games buttons around the corners of the screens often over-lay on one another making them impossible to click(touch) and things such as upgrades don’t respond correctly when trying to place them into slot holders. There are huge issues with the UI design on iOS , and considering I have a massive iPhone, the buttons should not be that small or hard to click. The running and aiming is on the same side of the screen so you can’t walk and aim at the same time. There are a bunch of things that need to be polished before I could play this and devs need to remember newer IPhones have the little UI “islands” at the top of the screen now so this sometimes gets in the way of certain actions and buttons…

Other things include:

Horrible communications tab; all chats appear in order in a banner making chats with people super frustrating and confusing.

Squads and missions: the UI for accepting or declining a mission is the top left corner and when you can ONLY accept or decline missions if you first hit the three little bars underneath which opens up an overlay of your menu tab before you can click on the check mark or X button. It’s incredibly bugged. Further, leaving a squad is difficult and confusing after missions.

Bugs; currently I have 2 missions in my quests that are impossible to complete. One that tells me to read a message in my inbox that doesn’t exist, and one that requires me to rank up my mastery, but the irony is I can not do that because it won’t let me get to mastery 3 from 2 even though I have completed the practice successfully 5 times now. I’m not sure what’s going on there but I am stuck at master rank 2 with challenge 3 stuck in the top of my quests list and I am unable to complete it. Other bugs include clans, but this needs a section of its own.

Clans; the UI for clans is not designed for mobile by any means. The buttons are probably the size of this letter —> o <— . Second, the clan management is broken and unresponsive. I tried to leave my clan, and it said it was successful. I return to the clan page and I am still in the clan but now I am the “Founding Warlord” and I can not leave until I make someone else leader. Well I did that, to 2 separate people, and it still won’t let me leave. It’s completely bugged. Not to mention I have to close the clans page in between every action or it isn’t recognized. So, yes, I am currently in a clan that I can not get out of.

2. I have one of the newest top of the line iPhones, and my battery is amazing. But god damn this app drains battery. It’s not a huge issue as, it’s not necessarily an issue with the game, but I was hoping running an iPhone 14pro max or 15 would be able to handle it, I feel bad for anyone with less. To second this, I would also add that my screen due to the battery drain gets unbearably warm. Might need to get my phone checked soon now.

3. I would have probably not wrote this review and just gone in for help online but the mobile/iOS help and support pages are practically non existent currently. There is one page basically telling you to delete the app and reinstall it. Then to file a support ticket if that doesn’t work. Except when looking for a mobile iOS support ticket page, yep, you guessed it, it doesn’t exist and/or wasn’t linked in that support page. I’m all for a mobile version of this game but let’s get the basic support features in place first.
